what does it take for someone to be good at doing this in their own life?

What I am about to request is selfish and may be narrowed minded and I am following my Tao - 

 

I am looking for answers in the from of stories, real personal and well written life events. 

I can find and have found the answer to my question online and it was very good because it came from Google Gemini , I say this because the answer can be very straight forward what I am seeking is true depth into your soul and poured into mine.

To me your question sounds very general. Not entirely sure, what you mean by cutting losses.

If you're talking about making great descisions, then here are a couple of pointers:

1) Become good at being descisive! Hesitation and going back and forth between strategies are some of the main things that cripple your success. Put bluntly, if you don't make a descision, someone else / life is doing it for you. Here is a video: 

 

2) Be strategic about your work. Spend time making a fool proof and comprehensive plan that you actually trust, once you have one switch to meticulous execution. Don't go back to planning but actually follow through with what you set out to do. Here's a video (actually one of Leos best videos):

But it can be very tricky to figure out when to quit a project or endeavor. That is specific to each case. There's not some formula for it. You have to start many projects, work on many projects, quit a few projects, and through that experience you will develop an intuition for it. But it still won't be perfect or easy. Some decisions are just tricky or unclear.

Generally, cut your losses when the project is beyond your skill level or when the project is not really aligned with your top values. There needs to be an alignment between your project and your personality, so the project feels right to you. You are looking for a good "fit". If the project is a poor fit, then look for a better fit. Generally, don't start things that aren't a great fit to begin with. The more experience you have, the easier it is to feel what fits.

If you lack experience, then you will just have to do more trial and error, testing lots of small things.

Start to learn to go with your gut.  Like if your gambling and you tried to make your $$ back and failed.  You can intuit it is the wrong thing to stay in the game.   You'll feel when it's rifht to cut your losses.  At that time it means it is probably time. It works with me for gambling.
