My Interview With Ralston is Live

10 posts in this topic

Hey Guys,

As promised here is the interview with Peter Ralston. We mainly covered the topics of Suffering, Social Domain, Survival, Ego and Relationships. Peter is a great example of someone who is Epistemically Responsible!

To be honest, even at 1 hour 50 minutes I still only got about 40% of my questions out. I didn’t even get to touch on absolute consciousness questions and questions I had around masculinity, sexuality and purpose. I wanted to cover some of the questions you guys mentioned as well but it was tough with such a short window, I hope in some way it does help and you enjoy the conversation.

We went very deep on the topics that we did cover so that depth over breadth is sometimes more important. And who knows, maybe there will be a part 2 (fingers crossed)

Enjoy!

Make sure to keep us posted on that!

Could you tell me a bit about your experience on his retreat? How was it structured, how long it was, and what would be your brief feedback on it?

Did you find it effective?

Hey @bazera Thanks for checking it out! I'll def let y'all know if we do a part 2.

So for the retreats I went twice, I did 2 weeks (2 workshops) the first time and 4 weeks (4 workshops) the second time. The structure was quite intense, we would normally do these things called "Diads" where you contemplate a certain topic with a partner and go back and forth, one listening and one speaking. This was powerful because having someone staring at you while you contemplate brings a different level of focus and coherence than just sitting alone meditating where your mind is more free to cause mischief. They also facilitate you , so they make sure everyone is staying on track.

Each workshop is a week long, and you basically are working on different topics sun up to sun down so they don't waste any time. Their website has information on the different retreat types and what they are focused around, ENB is like the mothership workshop, that's his most famous one. Also the Contemplation Intensive is wild , that's what you do if you want a direct awakening.

My feedback would be that it was challenging but also very effective and life changing. You don't really notice it when you're in it, but it was only in the weeks and months following that I realized how many seeds were planted and how much deeper I understood his work. So I do recommend checking it out, it's powerful stuff. Plus you get a Q and A with Ralston in the evening which is very powerful.

Hope this helps!

I could feel the Zen Stick slaps through the screen. The ending was profoundly beautiful as well. Great work ^_^

Ralston seems like a really socially fun guy to be around.  It's interesting to me that most people seem to want a one-sized-fits-all procedure or answer from him.

Thanks, this is really helpful because I live in far eastern European country and getting USA visa would take some hustle, if even possible. Also, there's money aspect.

But I really want to attend it at some point, hopefully Peter will be there for at least couple more years, he's old but he seems much healthier for a person of his age.

One more question, what do you think would prepare me for that couple weeks that I can start doing now?

I have some meditatives practices, I also try to contemplate stuff on my own, taking more responsibiliry over my epistemic process more and more. I'll probably be doing some psychedelics in the near future to boost contemplation as well. I've read not knowing book couple times, I'll read it again probably and the rest of his books as well.

Is there anything else? Maybe he even has some prerequisite for entering his retreat?
