How to increase pranayama count?

I heard you don't meditate anymore Leo

When would you recommend it?

If it helps I'm 18 and never had a psychedelic.

And also thanks so much for the pranayama-liberation range. I could reach God in 3-10 years even before tasting a single psychedelic it actually means so much.

@Leo Gura  It is said the point of kriya is to abide in the after effect of kriya, The Parvastha State. The kriyas are a means to an end and many people focus on doing kriyas for many years and get nowhere because they missed the point, which is Union with Self or Absolute Infinity.

Can you clarify the importance between doing kriya for a period of time consistently and the importance of abiding in that after effect from kriya.

I do pranayama instead of meditation.

And I still meditate but it is informally.

And I will still do hardcore meditation retreats. I just don't do regular daily meditation because I find it ineffective for my type of mind.

Pranayama is way more potent than meditation.

I disagree with the abidance thing. The point is pranayama to rewire the brain. That is key, otherwise yoga would be nothing more than meditation.

If I want to do abiding, I will just do meditation. Pranayama is needed to rewire the physical brain. That is what I focus on. Abiding is nice but don't waste too much time on it early on. That time should be used for more pranayama.

However, after you do years of pranayama and it rewires your brain, then you naturally do more abiding. Pranayama is needed to do effective abiding, otherwise you are just abiding in monkey mind, which is useless.

The first few years I would not worry about abiding at all. Laser focus on more and more pranayamas. You want to get a few tens of thousands pranayama under your belt first before you optimize anything else. Build that foundation. Then expand your practice.

@Leo Gura

Thank you. I will continue doing kriya pranayamas everyday. The practice itself is strong and really sets the tone throughout the day. Do you breathe in and out slowly while mentally Chanting while focusing on a specific spot, like a chakra point? Kriya seems to be a kind of still dance of consciousness, balancing many different poses at once, breath holds, mudras, body locks and inner chanting while being completely still. Tell me what specifically you are doing when you are doing kriya yoga. What is your recipe?

I don't do chanting.

I just visualize and feel the prana moving up the spine while breathing as slow as possible. It is especially important to visualize and feel it flowing into the brainstem and brain. Blast your whole brain with that prana from stem up.

That is it. It is nothing fancy.

Do you find it can also increase your ability to focus /concentrate on practical material things?

I remember 7 years ago doing that exercise you recommended focusing on a ticking clock for a full minute.

I did it for months and got 0 progress. My mind would always wander (which is normal because my baseline of mental activity is extremely high)

Frustrating.

I guess pranayama should be more effective.

How do you even come up with a technique like pranayama 🤔

Dude, I EXTREMELY recommend it.

Something simple and natural like "NG" as in "kiNG" does the trick for me.

I hum all day while working at the pc. It helps me focus and regulate myself.

If you want to get a crazy hack for insane focus while meditating try this out:

Put in high quality headphones and try to hum the frequency you're hearing. You will undoubtedly know when you hit it because your hum will start to wobble inside your skull.

This is SO ABSORBING for me. Feels so trippy and borderline psychedelic.

Found it out myself by accident

There should be a 3D animated video series of proper kriya techniques. Text or video can't do it justice.

I think that was Ramakrishna. I remember Sadhguru telling that story, he said that when he refused food one day his wife new the end was near.

Some live in such blissful states that it must be hard not "let go" and dissolve completely into infinity.

I can see how attachments like food can help them ground themselves.

This is the case for beginners and intermediates, so it must be even more for the advanced folks.

Leo if we do different pranayama techniques how are we meant to determine what potential modifications to use? Do we follow our intuition as Gamana says?

@Leo Gura do you physically focus your eyes on the third eye spot? I find it irritating and dont wanna accidentally go cross eyed.

It does feel like a focus boost though and I do feel tingling in that third eye region. Pretty intensely and consistently. And I do see those star / light shapes

And non stop goosebumps. I can get goosebumps almost on command.

Feels like I'm about to ejaculate off the top of my head lol
