My favorite is Lovely Complex, cause it's a great romantic story and a lot of fun :)

I like Death Note for its psychological chess game between Yagami and L, and how it explores hubris.

Death note was great, both the movies and the Anime TV show :)

Most of Studio Ghibli, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo! Death Note, Neon Genesis: Evangelion, Perfect Blue. Ninja Scroll.

Used to be a bit of a weeb - COME FOR ME. But sort of not, because Japanese heritage. And raised with a lot of weird Japanese traditions in my youth from my Dad.

Edit: forgot to add why, usually for either beautiful animation, great deep/complex characters or existential themes. Music/score always a big part of it

All Studio Ghibli works.

Slice of life anime is my favorite genre for movies and tv shows.  I like how slice of life celebrates the ordinary life and shows the beauty of just living simply, loving friends and family and being in harmony with your environment.

Others anime include:

- Your lie in April

- Your Name

- The boy and the beast

- Summer wars

- March comes in like a lion

- Assassination Classroom

- the disastrous life of saiki k

I haven't watched an anime in 5 years or so though. The last one I saw was:

The boy and the Heron by Studio Ghibli in the cinemas few years back.

I like Studio Ghibli so much I kept the movie ticket as a souvenir 😅

Bleach - Top favorite.

Expecting new season/movie of Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Record of Ragnarok is really cool - gods fighting each other, its so unpredictable!

Was enjoying Fairy tail when it aired, really loved the fights and the music, that made me goosebumps.

These one are what comes to mind atm.

One Piece has unmatched worldbuilding and vibes

Is it better than death note? I haven’t seen any of them.

Apart from some already mentioned here (Chainsaw Man & Death Note): Attack on Titan (for the clever worldbuilding, incredible twists, heart-wrenching circumstances, plus one of the best OSTs and occasional brilliant animation sequences), Code Geass (can't exactly pinpoint why I enjoy it so much, just do; it's like Death Note on a global scale and I find more characters compelling), and Violet Evergarden (visually stunning and deeply emotional, the main character's journey towards gradually understanding human empathy and love is very relatable to me). Honorable mentions — Kaguya-sama Love is War, JJBA Part 5, Bleach and Naruto (but only certain arcs), NGE, Hellsing Ultimate, Kuroko's Basketball, Takopi's Original Sin, Look Back, Kaiji & Akagi (both really obscure stories written by a guy obsessed with gambling; Kaiji was Squid Game before Squid Game). Expanded to manga and visual novels, therein lie my favorite pieces of fiction bar none.

Violet Evergarden is an anime that insists upon itself. Gas station cry bait.

Yeah it is. I watched Death Note as one of my first anime and I highly recommend that too.

Assassination Classroom, Trigun(1998), Naruto.

Because they embody and combine 2 of my favorite values: Love and Mastery
