High Achievers = Big Ego?

38 posts in this topic

Is this always true?

Because there's many people with giant egos who didn't accomplish anything.

So perhaps it's even across the board, and unrelated to big achievements?

It's nearly always the case.

That is ego's function.

People with little ego usually achieve nothing. The exception is very talented spiritual masters and mystics. But that is a special situation where having least ego makes you famous.

Agree with Leo, its almost always true, plus achievement can be personal or public, there are probably tons of ppl that have achieved great things that very few know about..and then there's the other side, no ego means no achievement but achievement is not everything, ppl get depressed and suicidal when they have achieved everything they wanted but why? Why is they still feel empty, so achievement is not everything in life, just a basic beginning in my book!

Achievers in what.

A person with a "weaker ego" (wants to be right less, has less attachment than average to similar objects) than average will just do other things.

I would say the person with a weaker ego doesn't care about achievement as much, nor what others think, as ego is a social mechanism imo.. Probably introverts have weaker egos I think, extroverts stronger ones.. Its not like one is better than the other, its just depends on situations and other factors, one just has to be Aware of the Ego and turn it off when its not needed, if its always on it will get bigger which is not so good in the end...

To write or read crappy self-help books, you need a strong ego, because otherwise you'd see the emptiness and it would bore you.

To read or write great philosophy, or become a doctor—anything highly intelligent, complex, meticulous—you need a weak ego.

How would big or giant ego be defined?  As opposed to a small or tiny ego?

Degree of holism.
By shifting your attention to larger holons it will automatically shift less attention to smaller ones, but you still gain that larger holon.

So yes as I told Leo just to troll a little if you want to do not-so-intelligent things it's better to have a strong ego; If you want to do intelligent things it's better to have a weak ego.

"Weak ego" in this definition doesn't mean low energy; the energy level is something else entirely.

If you do nothing it means you have little subjective energy or you lose a lot of it because of repetitive behaviors, neurosis, learned helplessness... It's another thing.

Just look at examples of it:

  • Trump
  • Musk
  • Andrew Tate
  • Kanye West
  • Owen Cook
  • David Goggins
  • The Rock
  • Kim Kardashian
  • Mohammad Bin Salman
  • The Kims

Probably not because introversion is associated with lower brain volume, autism, and most mental illnesses.

Doctors also need to go through long working hours and pass through many tests. They would also need to learn complex stuff. All these require a certain amount of ego. Otherwise, they would just quit being a doctor and do a normal 9 to 5.

Great philosophers also need to get their points across. They need followers and a strong marketing team to project their viewpoints. Also require ego.

There are also spiritually flavored egos who become rich and famous:

examples: Aubrey Marcus, Jay Shetty

Only Musk amount the 4 has accomplished signifiant things and he doesn't have such a big ego; he's a fairly calm, open and hard-working guy.

In any case, he is by far the one with the smallest ego of the 4 and the one who accomplishes the most.

The soul is also capable of great things. It's not always the ego. Just look at Sadhguru, for instance.

Can’t forget to add Diddy to this list.

Too bad his ego got him prison time

Delete your "work" history; see yourself as attention shifting to one object or another, due to conditioning.
To be a doctor, you need to enjoy shifting your attention to intelligent, holistic objects; holism is the quality of a "weak ego." If you prefer a more traditional profession, it's because you prefer having the time to shift your attention to other objects, generally of equal or lesser density.

It's also difficult to speak of a "strong ego" since there are many objects with which the ego identifies, like a rhizome; there are dense objects that capture attention and less dense objects that allow attention to move higher in the holarchy, specifically to that group of objects.

I could find a more effective way to describe this.

So a person can be very intelligent when it comes to politics but the opposite when it comes to women or vice versa; to give an example.

I wonder how much control people have over what they do.  It could just be easy and natural for them to do those things like it is easy and natural for us to do spirituality for years and years.  We assume they are grinding or pushing themselves.  Some people just have a lot of energy and desire to work.  We assume they are suffering, but if they were, wouldn't they just stop?  Maybe that's their path of least resistance oddly enough.
