Trump praises Mamdani, counters democrat narratives

Trump just had a in person meeting with Mamdani.

Despite previously calling him a dangerous communist, and Mamdani during the meeting saying yes when asked if trump is fascist and accusing Israel of genocide, Trump mostly ignored this and was very warm and friendly towards him

Interestingly most democrats in congress just voted on a measure to condemn socialism, whereas in this meeting Trump a fault said he’d be fine living in New York governed by the democratic socialist Mamdani

My guess is Trump realizes Mamdani is popular right now. And considering they just got crushed on affordability during the last election, he wants to cash in on that.

Trump will suck up to anyone who he thinks will increase his power. 

It's also possible that Mamdani charmed him because Trump is easy to manipulate.

I doubt their goodwill holds long.

That was really creepy for me to see yeah I think trump is two faced and will say whatever to benefit his currently agenda. Which was known before but seeing it so clearly like that is very off putting.

What did you expect they have to meet at some point.  Do you think they would wrestle physically? It's all fake .  All of politics is a hoax. I'm sure understand this by now

I think this was a masterclass on how to deal with trump by Mamdani. 

Every time the media asked something aimed at creating conflict, Mamdani circled it back to “points of agreement,” between him and “The President” (which I also think was smart to call him that every time to appeal to his ego). Whether that was to have more affordable rent-prices, lowering the costs of groceries or having peace in the Middle East. 

He made sure to not give detailed answers, about the mechanisms of how these things would happen. This would have made it more difficult to keep the vibe as peaceful as it was. 

I also agree that Trump wants to cash in on Zohran’s popularity.

The media are asking Trump if he is standing next to a “jihadist”, and Mamdani if he thinks Trump is a fascist to incite both to get at each others throats…terrible questions of course. They both seem to have some understanding not to play into that media game at least for that meeting.

Do you think Mamdani is being fake overall, or just acting in accordance with “yellow stage” politics? It seemed like Trump genuinely liked Mamdani to me, and Mamdani artfully holding back his tongue for more effective moments.

Mamdani is fake period, he's already flipping on what he ran on, no different than his entire political career.

"You've had disagreements about Gaza..." Mamdanis answer" I support all the efforts for peace" trumps effort is eradicating palestinians...

Trump-"we talked about ice and we're going to help him out, he wants the criminals out".
