Owen Cook: How to be an Executor!

21 posts in this topic

I know some people aren't the biggest fans of Owen-but this video is legit.

Anytime I get carried away with spiritual work to the point where it turns into inaction and bypassing, I turn to this video. It's a great reference for building a solid material foundation, getting shit done. Which then makes it easier to do deep spirituality

Fight the inner DERP !

Do you want to give us your own summary (not AI pls)? Would do you good as well, as far as learning the concepts.

I have watched too many Owen videos that honestly, right now I’m sick of listening to him lol.

You can accuse Owen of all sorts of shitty things, but no one can deny the guy is a machine when it comes to taking action. He has been grinding on the front lines for like 2 decades. It's very impressive how he managed to brainwash himself into doing that to this day.

On the other hand, it’s sad how stuck he is despite having all the potential to transcend higher.

Jesus Christ, to watch any video from Owen, you have to plow through 30% of him bitching about the pandemic and calling people sheep by having the common sense to listen to experts and not spread a fucking disease to everyone you know. His contrarian bias is a sticking point he will take to his grave. Better luck on the next incarnation, I guess.

If you don't have any useful takeaways @Terell Kirby then you're basically spamming and didn't even internalize the concepts enough to be able to share value from them in your own words afterwards.

Owen has plenty of good content on especially mindset IMO and having high standards for your existence.

Yes, Owen is best at instilling a healthy Stage Orange drive in you. Just don't get lost in it.

@Leo Gura I tried his approaches, and it just left me burnt out, lost, not feeling myself, making sub-optimal decisions. I found your approaches in the video "valuable things require investment over time" - to take an investment approach, even on an hourly basis to be far more effective, combined with mastery, but also "investing as deeply as possible" resonates with me. Overall isn't this just a wiser, healthier way to live, even if you're trying to make a business work?

Investing + Training Program + Iterations To Your Systems, etc. I see results compounding in this way, though slowly day by day.

I don't see how that contradicts Owen's ways. He makes long-term investments with his work too.

I emphisize philosophy and pure understanding over material business success. That's mostly where I differ with Owen. I do not care about material success. He does.

@Leo Gura Yes not saying all his ideas are bad. But much of his philosophy you can pull from statements like "You have 5 tanks, keep going till the last tank", "I slept 4 hours and then did back to back bootcamps/free tours", "we were just mad men running around the streets ter*orizing women" .. I mean I can go on. I've tried these ways many times, this Elon musk style "work every waking hour". You lose sight of holistic living, clarity of mind, distance from ego, etc. Yes he invests long-term, just like Elon does, but I'm referring to these other aspects of living.

But to each their own I guess.

Yes but even like Owen I care more about material success than philosophy and pure understanding. Although philosophy matters deeply to me as well. But my material needs are far from met. Yet still, his ways of getting that material success, that path is littered with neurotic living.

@Jayson G Oh, I see what you mean.

Yeah, Owen's approach is way too high-strung for me, and frankly for most people. People have different personalities, needs, and energy levels. If you do not have his genetics you simply won't be able to do this approach.

If I worked in the way he does I would kill myself. I need a lot of time off to reflect and rest. I don't have 5 fucking fuel tanks. I have 1/2 a fuel tank.

Owen does not understand that people have very different genetics and personalities from his. His ways are not suitable for most people. And that is not just because most people are "derpers". Owen is an extremist and not in a good way.

The workaholic lifestyle is not a good way to live.

@Leo Gura Yes its 2 things I see: his genetics, which yes I'm far from. But also I mean not to be mean or blanket statement it, but its just monkey living. I can't live like that. I feel miserable. I've tried that many times. When I get impatient I try that and it always backfires. I don't think he's happy at all, and in fact I see his life over the past decade becoming more angry, egoic, and neurotic. I think he lost a lot of his heart from how he's been living. I don't see how thats any way to live.

Yes, it's too ambitious and materialistic if you are serious about spirituality and philosophy.

Owen's problem is he can't chill out and just do nothing. He is like a rat in a wheel, always needing to run at 11/10 or else he feels bad about himself. But no matter how fast he runs the rat just spins in place.

That is why I do not focus on materialistic goals.

What Owen needs most of all to reach a new level is to stop all work for 2 years and just live alone in a cabin in the woods -- not working. But this would kill his ego. Owen is addicted to the grind.

He is like Gary Vee. Grindset hustle culture. I personally despise this approach to life and work.

@Leo Gura for anyone stage orange, including me or Owen .. thats too threatening to ego. But I also found that even just slowing down, that alone allows me to tap into more intelligent living, for its own sake, not even for material reward, and systems thinking, exploring multiple perspectives, enjoying intellect, etc. Theres this middle ground between that sort of monkey living and not doing anything of just this slow, but deep living thats been very rewarding. I can give examples of who does it: Pavel Durov, Ray Dalio, George Leonard, I believe you also based on some of the videos I watched. This is far more rewarding, and suitable imo for stage orange people to transition into higher conscious living.

I mean realistically do you think anyone who isn't on the high levels of development can stop for 2 years and do nothing in a cabin? It's just too painful and hard imo. Maybe one day with enough development.

I found over time that Gary V and Owen are just not as intelligent as I thought. I don't think you can be when you're so fast paced. Then again Elon is extremely intelligent at a fast paced so maybe there are exceptions.

Have you always been this way? Or you've become like that gradually after you did all the spiritual work and psychedelics?

### Owen Cook's "Endless Motivation" Masterclass: The Complete Breakdown (2025 Cut)

This is the single most confrontational, high-octane, no-bullshit execution talk Owen has ever delivered. It’s not feel-good spirituality. It’s not another “meditate and manifest” video. It’s a war cry against the modern trance state he calls “derping” — and a complete system to become a relentless executor who actually gets massive results in every area of life.

Core Framework: The Three States
1. Derper – Passive, numb, autopilot, path of least resistance. Driven by junk food, dopamine hits, short attention spans, fear of thinking (cortisol). Most of society lives here. This is the “2 + 2 = 5 because they said so” zombie mode.
2. Executor – You accept the cortisol of thinking. You force yourself to stay conscious. You fight the derp every single day with religious intensity. This is the foundation.
3. Transcendent – The higher spiritual states only become stably accessible AFTER you master execution. You can’t transcend while you’re still a derper eating Cheetos and forgetting where you put your keys.

Key Insight
Execution itself is a meditation.
Sitting on a cushion for 20 minutes is great for ego dissolution, but if you’re still derping the other 23 hours and 40 minutes, you’re deluding yourself. Execution meditation (constantly breaking autopilot, asserting, auditing, pushing resistance) is the skeleton that allows real transcendence to grow flesh on it.

The 25 Execution Meditation Practices (The Actual System)

1. Assert yourself in every situation (move chairs, lead the group, give energy).
2. Write everything down immediately — billionaires do, broke people think they’re too smart to need to.
3. Double/triple/quadruple check everything. Assume your brain is trying to trick you into laziness.
4. Do new things daily that scare your autopilot (left-hand brushing, cold showers, harder routes).
5. Constantly ask: “What else could I be doing with this time right now?”
6. Ruthlessly cut time-wasting activities (gossip, victimhood, mindless scrolling = spiritual suicide).
7. Audit in advance: “What could go wrong? How could this be misinterpreted?”
8. Extend your attention span deliberately — read the hardest books (Ulysses, Atlas Shrugged) until your brain stops begging for a nap.
9. Always choose the path of most resistance and most effort (stairs, not elevator; fix the thing now, not later).
10. Take total responsibility for yourself AND everyone around you — anticipate their derping too.
11. Proactively raise your emotional ceiling — get addicted to 9/10 states, not 5/10 numbness.
12. Stick to your principles even when it’s socially costly (don’t get dragged into pig-wrestling).
13. Seek truth, not popularity. Train yourself to think “Is this accurate?” not “Will this get me approved?”
14. Solve the hardest version of every problem (film in grizzly country, not your bedroom).
15. Think from other people’s paradigms constantly — marketing, leadership, conflict resolution all come from this.
16. Stop seeking ego-stroking “How was that?” from friends. Know your own standard.
17. Access transcendent states through flow, contribution, and pushing your edge — not just substances.
18. Install new empowering beliefs deliberately.
19. Seek brutal feedback only from people whose results you respect.
20. Connect every present action to its future consequence in real time.
21. When the inner voice says “you’re being lazy,” obey it instantly — no negotiation.
22. Test yourself in fluid, chaotic situations (sports, nightlife, crises) — normalcy bias kills.
23. Practice holding 20+ spinning plates in your mind at once.
24. Take extreme ownership — you are the white ball on the pool table, not the colored one.
25. Realize, multiple times per day, that you are in a trance — and snap out of it immediately.

The Brutal Truth Owen Hammered Home
Society is engineered to keep you derping (garbage food, jump-cut media, degenerate role models, fear porn).
The people at the very top do not respect you. They think you’re food. They are correct — until you prove otherwise by executing so hard you become undeniable.

Most “spiritual” content keeps you comfortable in derp mode because that’s where the money is (twin flames, LOA parking-spot manifestation, etc.).
Real awakening requires you to first become a conscious executor who refuses the trance.

Final Line That Should Be Tattooed on Your Brain
“Any failure you have from this day forward is 100% on you. I just spent hours screaming this in your face. There’s nothing more a human can do.”

If you actually implement even half of these 25 practices for 90 days, your life will be unrecognizable.
Most people will watch this, nod, feel motivated for 12 hours… then go right back to derping.

Don’t be most people.

Fight the derp until you die.
Your future self (and the world) is begging you to.

The dogs bark but the caravan is moving on.
