No Kings MASS PROTEST on Sat, October 18th

Over 2,200 No Kings protests are going to be taking place on Sat Oct 18th, for what's poised to be the largest single day of protest in American history.5-6 million people turned out for the last No Kings, and this one is going to be even bigger.

The protests are part of a broad-based pro-democracy movement that's emerged in the United States, which is pushing back against the flagrant authoritarianism and criminality of Trump's regime.

Considering that this is a Conscious Politics Forum, if you happen to live in the States I'd challenge you to attend one of these protests - and seriously consider becoming an active member of the pro-democracy movement.

Unless you truly live in bumblefuck nowhere, odds are very high that there's a No Kings protest taking place within 30 mins of you.

People sometimes ask me what the 'point' of large protests like No Kings are.

One aspect is to pull people into more active forms of resistance. But an equally important part is to push back against the atmosphere of fear which leads individuals and institutions to obey in advance.

The regime wants you to believe that it's all powerful and that its rule is inevitable, but in actuality Trump is a failing autocrat who's weak and historically unpopular. Millions of people turning out in the streets pierces the myth that the American people are on his side.

Fear is contagious, but so is courage.

I went to the No Kings protest in Saint Augustine this morning. It's a relatively small town of under 17,000 people in a county with about 360,000 people, and there were over 3000 people there at the protest.

That means about 1% of the county population... or about 17% of the city population was at the protest.

It was held near the fort in downtown Saint Augustine, which is also right next to a very well traveled road right in the middle of the historic area of town. Saint Augustine is the oldest city in America, so the historic area is very well traveled.

And there were tons of people driving by in cars giving positive affirmations as the protesters walked along the sidewalk . It's like every other person in the cars that passed by was honking in support, giving thumbs up, and waving at us.

And there was only one vehicle that passed by with a couple young guys who were briefly like, "Yay Trump!"

This is a ruby red state and a ruby red district, so I expected a little more pushback or pro-Trump messaging from the passers-by, as there are many passers-by (on-foot pedestrians and drivers) in that area of town.

But I was pleasantly surprised that the protest was met with lots of support.

I highly recommend going to one.

They are, they voted for Trump in the majority.
This isn't a pro-democracy demonstration, it's an anti-Trump demonstration and therefore rather anti-democratic, in fact.

I can't be persuaded that Trump won every single swing state legitimately. The mix of gerrymandering, Musk's nonsense, and Trump projecting makes it feel too fishy for me based on the numbers of protestors I'm seeing today....

Let’s not forget Trump led a deadly insurrection attempt against the US government after losing an election. He already hates democracy. Let’s not mix our apples and oranges here.

All I'm saying is he won the popular vote.

Expecting Kings to rule. Defeating the purpose.

From now until forever? Why the need to protest forever if there are no kings.
