The crazy thing is at the end of the day after the hustle and bustle it boils down to "JUST STOP". Same applies to Meth..to Cocaine..to pornography..to fast food ..etc

But willpower alone won't work .I. remember when I was 20 yo and was addicted to jerking off I would distract myself with ice cream. I would put some mouthwatering ice cream in front of me without actually eating .and whenever i get an erection I eat ice cream because sugar reduces lust and libido .

Some kind of method or trick is required.

Late reply but yes I agree for most willpower alone won’t work because it’s like a limited resource, a muscle that gets tired. You need to also know yourself well and your triggers, to identify tricks to cope etc

Of course night and day difference. But it's hard to communicate the difference. Vaping smells nice whereas cigarettes smell "raw ". Idk like the difference between black coffee and coffee laté . Please don't try a cigarette though. The health consequences are not wroth the rush unless you become addicted like me.

Is dying of an overdose worth it if you have a heroin addiction?

@Carl-Richard First go become addicted to something really deeply then good luck pretending and preaching that overcoming addictions are a piece of cake just because people know that it's not a happy ending at the end of the road of any addiction (unless it's a healthy addiction like reading and learning).

I was addicted to weed before. That is what makes me sensitive and react to rationalizations of addiction.

I smoked every single day, multiple times a day, for up to many months at a time. I have probably spent more money on weed than you have on cigarettes.

I had just joined a cult that had slowly turned anti-drugs, I felt it was impeding my meditation practice, and my mom was kicking me out if I didn't stop. All in all, if it really matters that you quit, for you and for other people, for the things that you care about and also for your very survival, then quitting becomes easier (meditation in itself also helps, because nothing beats how it makes you aware of your thoughts and spontaneous impulses). But some people manage to quit by just quitting. They just say "fuck it" and get on with their lives. It doesn't have to be a life-changing event.

I’d try a cigarette but I’d never start smoking it regularly

Good job. If it wasn't rare and expensive in India (I had to find a dealer " I would've be addicted to weed as well .

As you like but be careful because that's how the addiction started for me and for most people "just one..no big deal ". And then one cigarette leads to the other .

The best way to quit is to not try it in the first place.

I used to chew nicotine gum to focus when studying. Nicotine was always a powerful focus tool for me.

I never picked up smoking as a habit, but one of my exes was over a pack a day. He struggled a lot with it and had success going on a medication that blocked some action so the physical craving went. He used that time to address the mental side.

One thing he told me he repeated to himself 'the craving passes, whether you act on it, or not' which I thought was rather insightful

He also realised the smoking was actually him taking a break from a task and changing environment. He was using it as a refresher for his brain.

He had ADHD which was a factor in him smoking, as he used it to focus.

I think he used 'Champix' to quit (medication). YMMV with that because there are some serious side effects, and it won't help the habitual addiction. Just the physical

My dad used champix but he said me it turned him abnormally angry/impulsive lol

Nothing will prevent Willy.
