Anyone Watching The Alien: Earth Show?

@Leo Gura I'm glad I stopped watching it. Could tell it was going South by episode 3. Wish someone would do something new & creative in the genre of sci-fi rather than failing to inject life into dead IP.

The last good sci-fi movies were made like 10-15 years ago. The same goes for good historical movies. Stop looking for something that doesn't exist.

Edge of Tomorrow, Moon, Passengers, Sunshine, In Time... these are all good sci-fi movies, much better than anything from 2020-2025.

Fuck why did I do this - I started watching because I love the Alien films.

This had so much potential...

NGL though, they used that Tool song at the worst part - you'd expect a song about anal fisting to happen when there was FULL ALIEN carnage. But it was the outro... the rights alone would be $$$

Anywho, I'm onto episode 3 with nothing but hopes and dreams left...

Why the fuck did they turn Wendy into such a lazily written Mary Sue? Girl boss problem. 

None likes a women, or man, with a stupid amount of plot armour. Zero dynamics to the character. 

In fact the characters were what let this down. If I don't give a chit that they are being shredded by alien mate there is an issue...

@Natasha Tori Maru 😂 Damm that episode 8 was terrible though...yeah there's a scene with the alien and I think they just put a guy in a costume it looked like a human crawling around on all fours. I don't even know what I'm watching at this point

I was happily hate-watching the first seven episodes. But by Ep7 it got so bad I had to stop watch entirely. This show can burn in Hell.

I wish it was only this sequel that sucked. I recently was watching the new jurassic Park movie and I had to turn it off after half an hour. It was so bad. The movie was made for people with a TikTok brain. Totally unwatchable. And the cherry on top was that my Scarlet Johansson which was my gold standard for feminine beauty has gotten old and unattractive. So I was also confronted with the reality of the fading quality of beauty. 💔

There are exceptions like 28 years later which in my opinion was the best sequel yet. It is now one of my favorite movies with a lot of character and depth.

Hollywood is in such a dark place now that among relatively high-budget films, I almost think there's more room for creativity and originality in sequels and franchises. The original films from Hollywood I've seen in theaters in recent years are so generic it's unbelievable. They're so defensive and really try to appeal to absolutely everyone. If there's satire in these films, for example, it's at such an obvious level that even the dumbest 18-year-old in the world can follow along. For instance, the Trump-like antagonist in Mickey 17 had supporters with red caps...
