Getting Help Determining my Degree of Awakening?

9 posts in this topic

Could someone more experienced perhaps ask me some questions and help me determine to what degree I am enlightened or give some practical info for how I can check into this matter myself?

I wonder the same about myself too. I know I have a sense of self. But I don’t really know what kind of state of consciousness I am in , in comparison to others.

Someone on Reddit said “enlightenment is this moment, without the doubt about it”

So it seems if there is doubt, then one isn’t enlightened.

But maybe there are degrees to it, different kinds of awakening

Can you feel energy vibrating in your body as you meditate?

What are you conscious that you are?

Not ideas you heard, but based on your direct experience.

What is Truth? Explain.

What is Consciousness? Explain.

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

It's a difficult thing to measure because growth is so multi-faceted. You could be someone who does the most esoteric practices and reads the most esoteric books yet when you see thrash on a side walk, you walk past through it, whereas an old lady who knows zero spirituality has no ego and just picks up the trash and throws it into a bin.

From a certain sense that old lady who knows nothing about spirituality is more advanced than the one who is super deep into esoteric knowledge and practices. But someone who can hold their breath and stand on their head for 3months is also advanced in a certain way. That's why it's difficult to measure these things.

But usually highened awareness comes with the increase of energy, hence the reason I asked the first question. But there are ways to generate energy without becoming wise also... 😓 Complex dilemma. Everyone is just unique and can't be compared really.

There's another way to answer this question.

"a chain is only as strong as its weakest link"

the chain is the humanity.

Freedom is love under all conditions.

Ask Angelo from Simply Always Awake imo he always talks about awakening and degrees thereof.

And he has online Q and As and he wrote a book on awakening.

When I look now, before any thought about myself, “I” shows up as a clear, vibrant awake field in which everything appears: colours, sounds, body sensations, emotions, HANDS, even the thought “I.” The supposed “subject behind the eyes” is just more appearance within this same field; no hard edge marks where “self” ends and “world” begins. In ordinary play, I function as a finite avatar, but in direct seeing, the context of that avatar is unbounded awareness. The sense of being a separate someone is a deliberate narrowing of that awareness. A partition that makes self/other appear, so a shared game can happen. And this field is not a blank screen; it hums with quiet brilliance, singing every facet of itself into existence from nowhere. Every sight, breath, and heartbeat arrives already intelligently shaped. Awareness and intelligence are inseparable here, knowing and creative ordering are two facets of the same presence, among a multitude of other facets that I can access as a part of myself. When the imagined split relaxes, experience is recognised as non‑dual: one field of knowing/being that is ineffable yet obvious, and in practice, unavoidable.

Within that field, two notions of truth are helpful. Relative truth is context‑bound and conceptual, claims made inside the game; useful and testable, but always interpretive, always subdivisions and approximations with opposites and errors. The Absolute Truth is what is the case prior to concepts: the full, immediate is‑ness of this moment. It has no opposite, because even “falsehood,” “imagination,” and “mistake” appear within it. If you like the metaphor, Absolute Truth is the entire intelligently structured shared dream, every avatar, every seemingly private intimation, every rule exactly as it is; relative truths are the local, partial descriptions players make within that dream.

Seen this way, “others” appear because awareness self‑limits to enable connection and language. The risk is that the avatar forgets the wider context and mistakes the game for the whole. The release is re-recognising sovereignty, “I am the field, not just the avatar”, which dissolves the felt separation without ending the play; you simply play lucidly. Even the ordinary missteps, coincidences, a scrap of litter on the roadside belong to the same covert artistry. In this vast self-organising choreography, a strand of hair and a moon’s orbit fit together with the dances of dmt entities and a tumbledryer of sensations in deep dreamless sleep.

Some of the things I would say ... as I drink from the flask of the absolute and feel the cool water reverberate into the relative as I dictate this to my phone, before feeling my fingers tap away at a gpt editor to consolidate it.
