Is short form content going anywhere?

Do artists/creatives/entrepreneurs/etc. make reels and TikToks and whatnot even if they don’t like it?  Are they a necessary evil in this day and age?

Or are they just a trend and will they eventually die out?  And should said creatives refrain from participating in said trend?

This is all through the lens of life purpose and creating a business out of your passion. 😊

I write pieces that make the reader think.

Hell naaaah they ain't going anywhere, the dopamine train is just now leaving the station! Choo choo!

From the way we're all addicted to phones and new generations glued scrolling tiktok to infinity. Nah they're not going anywhere.

But I don't think that means you have to learn into making short form content. You could still start business with different methods, you'd just be missing a very relevant one.

It's here to stay. They even have a new job position called "clippers" where kids repurpose old content in tik tok dopamine shorts. There are platforms where creators can pay out campaigns for however many views the clippers get

It's marketplace official now

Why hate on short form content? It's just about communicating ideas in a short and effective manner. Practice it, it's fun. I post daily reels about various topics, been super fun to connect with the people that follow me and beyond. I post anything from photoshoots, philosophy, business vlogs, crypto, etc. Works quite well got up to 100k monthly views a couple months ago.

This is a good video on Youtube shorts specifically. I never managed to do well with them so I'm studying up the format. It's different than Instagram since you have to learn how to capture an audience from scratch instead of relying on the people that follow you on Instagram already.

Because its addicting, supports a mind which woanders in all directions and intelligent things mostly cant be explained in a short video.

There is a competition for your attention, which is why TikTok and replications for it are so popular. These apps capture your attention the most and are the most addicting, so they will likely stay.

However there are people who drop out of that madness for their mental health. But most people probably wont wise up.

I watch a ton of Tik Tok and Instagram shorts and well as make my own. It’s fun. Just gotta be a bit careful with it so you don’t spend too much time on it.

@Jannes What makes you think short form content is more addictive than long form? People have been using media for escapism since it’s existed.

Why can’t intelligent things be explained in a short format? Doesn’t that make it easier to peak the curiosity of people that usually would be discouraged by hour long videos and get them to engage in the material? Also plenty of long form content is extended needlessly and creators just seem your attention for dollars.

@LordFall Because to be compedetive in this video formats you have to create stimulating (dopamine) content.

Some content can be broken down into a small videos, some for some content a short frame doesnt to it justice. But most people wont use it to spread high quality content, most will use it to be competetive.

As opposed to what other content format that is not competitive? It just gives you more options to express yourself as a creator, long form content takes a while to do so I think it empowers creators to get into content and lowers the barrier to entry.

Are you guys realizing that forums as this one is the same as shorts to the brain. This is why long comments aren't popular and sometimes spoken against. I've seen some comments criticizing long comments and responses and people sometimes apologize for making long comments. Some even say they don't read them at all. Some even try to shorten their comments on purpose so as not to take away from the 'shorts' perception. No one has ever said, your comment is too short. It's not just YT, IG and TikTok, here too.

It's probably going to be regulated at some point like all drugs.

Lol. The regulators will start to impose fines and jail time. I say this lightly and as a joke but wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a thing. This world has become ludicrous and insane.

I mean like you won't feed it to kids and such. Reasonable regulations.
