Why People Leave The Left

Hypothetically, I can imagine having a discussion with someone like Ben Shapiro, JP, or Dave Rubin. Say a 2 hour discussion. I can imagine myself explaining my views of things, on society and on politics. I can imagine they would disagree with me on most topics. But they would still try to somewhat steel man me or understand my position.

If I were to do the same with Sam Seder, David Pakman, or Destiny? 0 chance. 2 minutes into the discussion they would bring up "white privilege" or "ethnocentrism" or "why are you against trans right?" These people are incapable of genuinely understanding the other side. These are the types who frame all of immigration topics as "racist vs non racist". These are people who perceive "transphobia" in those who opposed trans women in women's sports. They are incapable of either basic empathy skills or good faith dialogue.

This is a perfect example. 0 ability to self reflect. 0 ability to address topics without bringing up "manosphere" and "toxic males" and "men want to dominate everyone" and treat people as anything besides the thing between your legs and color of your skin.

You have no idea how relieved I am for not being American. At least my country isn't nearly as obsessed with identity politics and doesn't treat me as a villain for existing.

If the Left wants to gain popularity, it needs to address issues within its ideology and stop shifting all of the blame to the 10% hyper maga Trumper right wing red pill lunatics.

Wokies, not just US Wokies but in general, don't give a fuck about the middle class. They perceive the middle class as part of the privileged class. So instead of proposing ideas that benefit both the lower class and the middle class, they apply their focus on the 1% ethnic minority lesbian trans quadriplegic homeless drug addict immigrants.

This is another win for the Right. At least the Right (whether it's BS or true) acts like it is in favor of the middle class and working class.

With all due respect, this is completely false. Spend even a tertiary amount of time in any progressive online space and you’ll see countless discussions on how workers (ie lower and middle class) are being fucked over by corporate greed, predatory economic policies etc.

@SwiftQuill I am from Romania, and here society is 99% conservative, I have yet to encounter in real life someone who isn't conservative, all the censorship and insults that I received in my life were from conservatives whenever I shared my "leftist" thoughts in a political discussion. I am totally against religion and my former friends threatened to chain me and drag me after their car because I am satanist! This forum is for the first time in my life where I haven't been told to suck someone's dick or to be threatened with violence for having different opinions! You think leftists censor and cancel you? Go in Poland, Romania or Russia and tell the people from a village there that you are pro gay marriage! They will stone you to death!

@Apparition of Jack I don't see Vaush talking about it. Or Destiny. Or Pakman. Or reddit. Even the old good subreddits like r/late stage capitalism stopped addressing the topic. Now it's all radical feminism, or intersectionality, or war on Palestine, or orange man bad. The topic of middle class is hardly brought up by the so called leftists. You have to admit that even if they didn't stop addressing it, it certainly has lost visibility/relevance in left wing spaces.

I'm not dismissing your bad experiences with the Right. You are the one dismissing the issues within the Left. I'm well aware there is a lot of toxicity in many conservative locations and spaces. I'm by no means defending the Right.

Conservatism is largely a fear based belief system. People face issues in their life that they don’t like and take a toll on them. So they choose to close down. They this then resonate more with right wing politicians hoping for the good old days or someone to blame for their problems.

A left leaning government is far far more likely to prioritise the issues you listed here. Right wing governments tends to focus on issues like excluding trans people or kicking out immigrants because these issues get them votes.

@Nemra by DEI in modern entertainment I wasn't referring to DEI hiring policies. I was referring to poorly written characters who serve as "diversity" at the expensive of the quality of the world building or story writing.

But you seriously come to me, and ask me if implementing "white men need not apply", as a policy in the current job market - which is already super competitive - is a legitimate form of meritocracy? I find it beyond abhorrent. One's moral compass must be really broken to accept such a policy. Brainwashed.

This is the latest video I found from Vaush, criticising the massive corporate / security state overreach by Palantir.

I understand it’s easy to feel like all the left does is whine about gay Muslim trans athletes or whatever but criticising capitalist insanity is like their bread and butter.

@Apparition of Jack it's been a few months since I checked these. But as a former member of r/late stage capitalism (and Vaush viewer) I did notice a strong shift away from the topic of middle class. I remember scrolling down on reddit, looking for my anticapitalist copium, only to not find it. Very Blackpill moment

So you are from Romania. But i see you talking about Colonialism and other ideological bs all the time. Doesn’t Romania have serious issues like youth unemployment that are more important right now? I don’t know much about Romania but isn’t it the country with the highest youth unemployment rate in EU.? What about Russian interference and a lot of other stuff.

They don't care if it's Illegal they do it anyways. I've seen videos of woke CEOs bragging they refuse to hire males or whites. They're still up on YouTube. And LinkedIn.

Don’t forget a lot of that stuff is pushed by right-wing grifters taking the most extreme examples of identity politics in order to make redistributive economics bad by association. 

It’s like how Biden actually passed a law to lower the cost of insulin and no one hears about it, but when Donald Trump says he’ll do the same thing (even though he won’t) suddenly hes the Messiah. There’s a fuckton of progressive economic activism happening every day you just don’t hear about because it threatens the neoliberal orthodoxy.
