What about the recent rise of crime? It’s only in certain areas?

Certain areas, not even close to the levels of crime US experiences. But it makes the news all the time because people are not used to such stuff here. A school shooting here is a catastrophe, in the US it is just side news.

Where do you live and how do you experience leftists in your country?

Leftists in my country are a minority that you would have to spend time to find them. There are no actual leftists in power.

They're all nationalists and Christians with their stupid identity politics, whether national, ethnic, or religious.

I live in Armenia.

@PurpleTree, sorry, but I cannot watch the video. It's unavailable to me. I don't have a VPN service right now.

But I have watched their content.

The situation seem to be quite similar to Armenia although maybe the left is stronger in Georgia.

I would say worse.

There have been wars and conflicts happening.

Most people are living traditionalist lives. Brainwashed to the core.

And no, Bernie Sanders isn't woke. When people like myself use woke as a pejorative, they don't mean people like Bernie Sanders. As someone who engages in antiwoke circles, trust me no one considers people like Sanders to be woke.

I've seen many videos of him speaking about politics and he comes across as a healthy, intelligent progressive. And when he says he's "socialist" he doesn't mean old school socialism. He talks about a social safety net, like in Scandinavian countries type of "socialism".

Eh, it is what it is. It is depressing though.

I visited Artsakh for the first time, and in the following years, Azerbaijan took it by force. Literal bloodbath.

They also tried to attack Armenia. I thought they would succeed. I heard a loud sound near my town, although I don't know whether that was a bomb or not.

We got a progressive president now, and what can I say... It slowly shifts from Blue to Orange with some Green here and there in the big cities. Even the most progressive politicians are some sort of neoliberals who think austerity and cutting gov. costs will fix problems. I mean it can help, but we have to increase the tax to GDP ratio and promote innovation rather the just playing this "cheap labour and resources for foreign companies" card. But economically, the whole Europe is a bit fucked, because we are so fragmented. hard to compete with China and US which are huge capitalist powerhouses.

Personally, I left because my profession is not well paid, because of air pollution, bad infrastructure, no bicycle lanes, and for my personal development. Moving to Sweden changed my life, I understand the world much better now. I really recommend moving to a country radically different than yours, learn the language and blend in with the locals.

Yea i think i might visit soon-ish. Maybe next year. My mother was there and liked the landscape a lot. And it’s quite cheap from a more expensive European country.

How hard would be to obtain a residence permit in such country for you?

I don't know. Maybe I could move there by applying for a job.

The important thing is that I got my first Schengen visa.
