  1. My conclusion: I visited the Venus Project to learn. Learning includes both discovering things that work and things that don't work. And I believe I found some of both at the Venus Project.

I do not believe their ideas for building a resource-based economy and getting rid of all government are possible any time soon. But when I toured their facilities, 99% of what I saw was not related to that. Mostly what I saw were engineering models for transportation, housing and urban design. Ways for buildings to be safer. Ways for cities to converse more energy. Ways to make transportation more efficient.

Jacque Fresco was not an economist or a business man. He was a scientist and engineer at his core. That is what he did best. And that is what the Venus Project should be focused on.

Forget the resourced-based economy. It's not going to happen, and we don't need it to happen. We can largely remove the deleterious effects of the current money-economy without actually getting rid of money. And if we do eventually want to get rid of money, great. But we are not there yet.

Proponents of TVP may say that I am ignoring root causes by saying they should leave out the resource-based economy. And perhaps I am. But you cannot always address root causes. Addressing root causes is an ideal. Sometimes you have to address symptoms and work within the parameters of what you got.

Focus instead on the engineering. I'm not an engineer who can validate Jacque's ideas, but I suspect many of them are very good in that department. And much more feasible than restructuring the entire global economy / political system.

@aurum  I wonder why they don't connect with someone like Elon Musk to get some proper funding, it feels like this project has been taking forever to get off the ground ?

It is taking a long time and I don't suspect they are close. Especially since Jacque died, who was basically the visionary.

I imagine it's not as simple as calling Elon Musk up on the phone and asking for a couple million dollars. Their plan is to build something so they can attract future investors with something tangible. But of course even that takes funding and people who believe in it.

Nice article about systemic problems of projects like these along with personal experiences for the same.

There are systemic issues that are ignored leading to the failure in such projects. The founder has fantastical ideas about skipping stages in both external survival issues and internal psychological development with "education". The "education" one especially always fails in the real world. People don't work that way in the real world.

Auroville was founded 50 years ago. To this date, it is failing in most of the key areas due to the same systemic problems outlined in the article. Quality of life is still not good after 50 years, unable to attract more people or make it sustainable. A recurring theme enabling to observe some key principles.

Yes there's quite a lot of problems with it, some of which I feel I have a much better understanding of now that I visited.

The biggest gap for them seems to be resources. They simply cannot afford to do what they are planning on doing and not been able to raise the necessary funds to do so.

Of course even if they were successful in fundraising, the question remains whether it would actually solve the problems they claim it would solve. I am skeptical, especially in their belief that they can get rid of money / government anytime soon.

However, the majority of Jacque Fresco's work is engineering designs related to transportation, housing and urban design. He really was an engineer at heart. And some of those designs seem much more tangible, practical and possibly implementable.

How do they want to integrate the Venus project in already existing cities? What would be needed?

In general, at which time (e.g. 2070) do they predict will countries begin to use the Venus project (when looking at the current life conditions and values of existing nations)? When will the first countries implement the idea? When can the Venus project be implemented world wide because of global unification of countries.

They do not have a solid projected timeline. When asked, Roxanne did not even provide a ballpark figure.

As far as integrating into current cities, I only got a few details. They mostly are interested in building from scratch. It also seems that some older cities would have to be demolished entirely.

Ask them how many of them voted against Trump and got vaccinated ;)

Roxanne (the co-founder) was very critical of Trump. Apparently she knew people who got swindled in some of his earlier "business" deals.

In general though, they don't care much for democracy or believe our current political system can solve any real problems. So I doubt they voted.

Are there any plans to replicate The Venus Project in other parts of the world ?

Yes. They plan to us The Venus Project essentially as a prototype, working out the bugs before expanding to newer areas. They did not say where, as such a project would likely be far away. They have their hands filled just getting the Venus Project off the ground.

  7. I will be visiting The Venus Project today. If you don’t know about it, The Venus Project is a SD Green / Yellow techutopia based off the work of Jacque Fresco. It promises to form what is called a “Resource-Based Economy”.

Feel free to drop any questions you might have and I will ask them.

I am not affiliated with The Venus Project in any way, just looking to learn more about solutions to our collective problems.

Yet evolution does not necessarily means new stages will be added at the end of the spectrum.

Arguably there was a time when Green did not exist but Turquoise still existed. If we were to invent spiral dynamics at the time Jesus was around, we would have a hard time noticing the existence of Green but there definitely was Turquoise people even at that time.

In my understanding of SD, there would not have been Turquoise people at the time of Jesus. Enlightenment is not Turquoise. According to the SD model, Turquoise only began to emerge ~50 years ago.

This then leads to an interesting question of what exactly is the difference between turquoise and enlightenment / non-dual awareness / christ consciousness and all these other maps.

Look, we gotta stop expecting Leo to be God (pun intended ;)). Of course he isn't going to be completely holistic in every take he has, and is going to have blind spots and certain biases about things.

You have to remember he is just another person that is coming at things from his own life experience, and his perspective will be undoubtedly intertwined with that to some level.

If you're familiar with his story he was sort of a nerd/incel, and then did a huge amount of work and compensation to get himself out of that and grow a bunch (kudos btw). The sort of requirements for that accomplishment are going to lean quite heavily towards a male agenda, it's just the nature of things.

It's a fair criticism but remember, this work isn't really about him.

Despite what I wrote above, I agree with this as well.

  10. @strategy_master

Just got the first dose of the Pfizer.

I feel it is relatively safe. I checked the ingredients, nothing that set off any alarm bells for me. I talked to many people who got it and seemed fine. I had no side effects from the first dose, which the exception of a slightly sore shoulder for a couple days.

Perhaps there’s some sort of long term consequence we are not aware of. But I don’t suspect as much. I’d recommend it getting if you can.

  11. @thisintegrated

I think we don’t really know.

Only some extremely small percentage of the world population is Turquoise according to SD. Society as a whole is really only peaking at Green. So we don’t know well what the struggles of Turquoise will look like.

One thing that is inevitable though is evolution. Evolution comes from “problems”. So turquoise will have problems, which will lead to desire, which will lead to expansion.

  12. @Preety_India

I’ve had similar thoughts. Perhaps he has his reasons for why he does what he does. Perhaps he is actually 15 steps ahead of us. Or maybe it is something for him to still work on. I don’t know.

Regardless, some of the things he has said about dating do reflect a heavy bias in my opinion. Possibly misogynistic or even misanthropic. And I think the culture on this forum reflects it.

I have to say I still had hope in pulling that off. I mean they are women after all I can't understand why they can't get attracted even though they are there to make money.

Feel free to try. But I don’t see it happening.

Girls who do sex work are there to MAKE MONEY. They are not there to get seduced. The more time they spend talking to someone like you who isn’t going to pay, the less they are going to make that day.

Their job is basically to screen out guys like you as fast as possible. And some of them are really good at it. They’re hustlers.

If you want to pick up a girl doing sex work, you’d have a better chance picking up a stripper IMO. At least at a strip club you can catch them on an off day when maybe they’re just bored and have nothing better to do but talk to you. And you can make friends with the staff, develop social proof, etc. That is possible if you know what you’re doing, although still challenging.

What you’re describing to me sounds impossible. You can’t use any of the benefits of offline dating to your advantage. So you’re screwed.

I think the problem too has been that I didn't met all this chicks on an online dating site. It is more of a porn site (it's not really porn but girls try to make money "here") but I try to refuse to pay and seduce them Lol

    Bro, what?

Your chances of pulling something like that off are 0.

No wonder you’ve had no success.

Get on a normal dating site and hire a portrait, lifestyle or headshot photographer to help you look good. And get a good wardrobe, photographers rarely provide that.

Otherwise you’re just wasting your time.

That said, if this motivated you to meet girls IRL, then don’t let me dampen that fire. That is obviously valuable.

  15. @Akira

    I had it.

It was annoying but that was about it. Came on quick, just like the flu. Started getting a cough and muscle weakness. A little harder to breathe deep and concentrate. I couldn’t really work or meditate effectively.

By like day 3 most of the more obvious symptoms were gone. Then it was just a mild cough that lingered for a couple more days.

All in all not that bad. But obviously for some people is much worse. If I had been in worse health prior to getting it, who knows what would have happened.

    1. How does this work when working on becoming more integrous?

Integrity does not contradict having a contradictory world view.

In fact, I would say the only way to really be in integrity is to have integrated all your contradictions. Then you are “whole” and can operate from integrity, because you are not fighting against yourself.

. Is having both a more "hippie" and idealistic facet while having a more "squared" and "conventional" facet, an example of this? Any tips on how to integrate both in the most healthy manner?

I would say so. “Hippie” usually refers to people who follow their intuition and feelings, crave freedom / low responsibility. Whereas “square” people usually like to have everything known, follow their intellect and crave order.

The reality is you need some balance of both.

The best way I’ve found to integrate these things is to take each one to it’s extreme, suffer its limitations, and then dial it back out of wisdom.

So for instance, maybe you go all in on being “hippie”. Get the harem pants and everything. And that’s great for a while. But then you start to crave depth in your relationships, and realize you can’t have that unless you commit. And commitment infringes on you desire for freedom. So now you’re stuck, and your mind has to resolve this tension.

Or the opposite. You go super square for a while, and that works. Your life feels structured, safe. But then find your life lacks excitement and adventure. It’s not fun. Everything is safe but you never take any risks. So again, your mind has to resolve the tension.

This is how integration happens in my experience.

Don’t be afraid to swing the pendulum hard. Yes you’ll make mistakes, but mistakes ARE the point.

Nice reflections, if we all had your level of self-awareness and self-honesty (and this applies to both men and women), there would be far fewer problems in relationships.

    Thank you.

Oh boy can I relate to this, I had a seriously unfortunate habit of attracting needy women and they would end up draining me horribly.

Would you say you've broken this pattern? If so, how?
