Apathy

33 posts in this topic

I've had a hard emotional period over the last 2 years.I got depressed (I'm not anymore because of meditation),but now I'm apathetic.I have lost interest and entuziasm for almost everything. And if I ever find myself interested in something, the feeling goes away fast.I have to repeat that I'm not depressed anymore, most of the people who are reading this might think that..

So..How am i supposed to deal with it?

In my opinion: Don't guilt yourself for this losing in interest and enthusuiasm. It's probably better than the neurotic motivation of most humans. I think the desire to do something and the interest in things will come back naturally at some point. If you are happy not doing something why change it? We have to get rid of this mindset that we always have to do something imo.

There are different emotional energy levels. The lowest is apathy which is a state where everything just seems dry. You have very little motivation to do even simple task that you once found effortless.

The level above apathy on the vibrational frequency scale is anger. It is the next stage and I believe if you want to get out of apathy, you need to get angry. Get in touch with the injustice of life and what life gave you to be angry about. Allow memories which makes you angry to resurface.

Not for the purpose of staying angry for months ans years, but so you can move out of apathy into a more ressourceful state. Then from anger, you can move into coursgeousness, acceptance and maybe even contentment if you use the sedona method and release your emotions correctly.

I learned this from the book called sedens method. Highly reccomend it :)

From my personal experience, yes it does, not sure what comes first, depression, or porn/masturbation addiction, whatever it is, it is highly connected.

Don't let your brain rationalize this shit, this is one of the main thing that holds you back in life, IT IS NOT just about women attraction or sexual performance or whatever the shit your mind comes up with.

This is exactly when you should not.

@Christian Teal Swan said something like this. She also said that the apathetic people should face their despair that is inside of them trough shadow work.

Can you please describe this apathy a little more? (just to clarify, because it is possible that it is just "depression", but it is also possible that you are feeling a layer that is kind of dry and dead but is actually very close to what you are and on the brink of awakening).

Do something else with that energy, something that could benefits you, I don't know what, just look at your current issues and decide.

What I'm saying: There is this one teaching of "hey man, you gotta raise your vibration, man" with scales like SedonaMethod, David Hawkins or Abraham Hicks. Then there are spiritual teachers that almost turn that around and describe a layering of emotions which veil your true nature, e.g. you have anger on top, underneath that fear, underneath that despair/sadness, underneath that maybe a layer of "dry deadness" or a "morass" revealing a "black hole" and if you enter that your essence is revealing which than show up as different qualities which then reveal truth.
So, this "apathy" could be repressed anger and more on the surface or it could be relatively close to the source.

@Echoes I am not happy.I want to do something.I want to study better and find new hobbies. The thing is that I have no motivation to do so.

@TobyI will try to describe it a little more in depth.

So..No motivation to do anything that could improve myself(like meditation or studying better or developing/trying new hobbies,or socializing more). Sometimes I feel that "call" for doing something, but that feeling goes away fast.Like.. Thinking that getting a girlfriend would be awesome, but in 5 minutes I'm like..Meh.

Ussualy I have to force myself to do certain activities, like meditation or learning how to code..But even though I know that these things help me,I don't feel that.I feel like everything is useless. Also I would love to form better connections with others..But I have no motivation to do it.

Really difficult to tell if this is more like depression or negative symptoms of schizophrenia or a spiritual dark night (disappearing ego-drives, lack of will, motivation...).

I DONT personally think that there is apathy at all.

Consider if there is any denial revealing your emotions OR suppressing them. Also consider that HAVING LESS INTEREST FOR THINGS is a OBVIOUUUUS residue of depression.(and with depression I mean you keep your focus where Its not mean to be,and serve you for the good.just change focus I will say that again)

Sorry If thats not what you wanted to hear but sometimes some opinions can help us grow.

Just be happy and things will flow. You will try difderent things. And just forget about the label depression and all that comes with it.

Lift yourself up. Its only our thoughts and beliefs and feelings. And not about depression. It doesnt feel good to say that you were depressed. Who cares If you were this or that, especially in the past, especially If it is bad for you to think about. Just focus on the good things that are happening to you.

THATS IT.

@Toby oh can you quote a point where one of those claims the following?

I don't understand. What should I quote? Do mean what teacher talk about layering of emotions veiling our true nature? Gangaji & Eli, Leonard Jacobson, Adyashanti. But they all have different approaches.
But I can already pick up that you seem to like Abraham hicks, right?
