No Nut November

91 posts in this topic

Creating this to document my experience and journey participating in No Nut November. I will make it all the way through and focus on my goal of finding a solution to my current health problems.

Want to give a special mention and thanks to @Yarco. He told me this on a reply to a post I made about this topic almost a month ago:

Quote

It's October 1. If you start gradually transitioning with all the stuff I listed above, you should be able to make a serious attempt at No Nut November when November 1 rolls around. You can do it. You probably won't last the whole month. But in November I wanna see a post from you about how you've managed to go at least 7 full days without fapping. 7 days is about where your testosterone and all the benefits of nofap peaks. Even if you relapse 3 or 4 times in the month, think about how much farther along you'll be than you are now.

I want to show him that he’s made an impact on me and go for at least 7 days. But if I abstain for the entire month, that’s really where I should be seeing results.

I will repeat my goal again: I will abstain for the entire month and focus on my goal of finding a solution to my current health problems.

Also want to thank @Raze for providing these resources:

And finally I want to thank @StarStruck for the masculine vibe he radiates in the advice he gives.

Feel free to comment on this thread with anything you want to add, say, give advice/tips on, or just talk :)

@ThePoint essentially it is about forming new habits. You have to be clear about it. So I want you to write this down in your own words:

  1. trigger: sexual urge to watch porn
  2. new habit (reaction to the trigger): formulate how many push-ups and jumping jacks you are going to do, and do it: no excuses
  3. reward: imagine about the health, wealth and girlfriend you will achieve if you continue the new habit.

@StarStruck Thank you!

Trigger:

Urge to masturbate

New Habit (in reaction to the trigger):

20 Jumping Jacks. (Can go to the gym afterwards).

Rewards:

  • Reduced anhedonia, or even totally cured anhedonia.
  • Reduced brain fog.
  • Reduced fatigue.
  • More energy, more drive.
  • More freedom.
  • More hunger and drive to create an extraordinary life, to master your life, and to resolve your health problems.

?? Proud of you buddy. Lots of people would've made that initial post acknowledging the problem, but then just left it at that and never followed through or took action.

Watch out for boredom especially. The fap monster lurks in the shadows, waiting for an opportune moment to plant an idea in your head: "Well, I've got nothing else to do, might as well masturbate." ;) If you feel it coming on, get up and do something else before it can take hold.

Nice. Remember: it is important that you visualize the rewards! Feel how it will feel when you are there.

Yes. This is a big one, thanks. I must always keep in mind that there are always things that need to be done. The moment I find myself thinking “I’ve got nothing else to do”, that means I need to bring my focus back to my goal and vision, and my to-do list.

Will do! Thanks.

Day 1:

Had some urges today but they were not too strong.

However, I ended up wasting some time on YouTube, consuming "productive" content but it doesn't really stay in my memory because of information overload.

It's better for me to just stick to the audiobook I am currently listening to, and stick to reading the book on my Kindle.

I need to focus more on my to do list, and the tasks that will move the needle the most. I need a way to keep it front and center in some way, so it's always on my mind.

Soon I will be getting to the point where I will be able to follow the program, and hopefully get some results with my health.

I need to stay determined that I will find a solution and make an amazing life. Looking at success stories for gut issues gives me some hope, for anhedonia however, it is rare to find actual success stories. But maybe solving my gut issues will solve my anhedonia, the only way for me to truly find out is to continue experimenting.

Day 2:

Okay now the urges are coming on a lot harder...

My entire body is exhausted from how many things I did today, plus I should be going to bed now, but no excuses. 20 jumping jacks right now.

After jumping jacks

Did 80 jumping jacks instead.

Urge is back... FUCK.

Another 20 jumping jacks then.

After jumping jacks

It feels like it calmed down by only like 20%... this is not good enough.

My mind is visualising/remembering a p*rn scene I saw a while ago... this is not good.

Man this is so weird, I could easily go 2-3 days without fapping before but I’m actually finding it hard right now.

MAN PLEASE DON’T RELAPSE.

@StarStruck What should I do if I’m getting urges when I’m in bed and it’s time to sleep?

Should I still do jumping jacks even though it would affect my ability to fall asleep?

When it is time to sleep, you should be somewhat physically exhausted. Consider buying weight-adjustable dumb bells because jumping jacks won't cut it.

This is how I manage to endure no-fap. If I don't spend my energy I would explode. Physical activity is key for me to stay clean.

Also be careful what you are visualizing during the day and when laying in bed. Have an empty head (by doing meditation). If you fantasize sexual stuff, it is not weird that you have a hard time. Sins start in thought, so nib it in the bud.

In my view no-fap has two components

  • Cultivating a clean mindset through meditation and concentration on your vision
  • Cultivating a clean body through exercise, healthy food

Day 3:

I need to make more progress. What can I do differently tomorrow? When I wake up I will go straight to doing the first thing that’s on my to do list. I need to take more action, I’m not taking enough action.

What did I even do today? Jeez, I can’t even remember. I’m so numb I can’t remember anything because there’s no emotions to connect memories to, and emotions are important for memory formation. I need to solve this shit ASAP.

Urges have been strong. Man, I really wish I never got exposed to this stuff. It would’ve been so much more simple if I had just never done it before. I pretty much got addicted from the first time I ever did it, 3 years ago. I still remember the exact thing I did it to, it was like a negative milestone lol. “First ever time wanking” ?

It’s crazy to think that I genuinely did not know wanking existed until my classmates were talking about it and asked me how much I wanked, and were surprised when I said I’ve never done it before. I had no idea that people actually fucked their dick with their hands.

Imagine it just stayed that way. The people you are around have such a strong influence on you. I miss never having been a fapper, I miss it so much.

Yesterday I convinced myself to fap ... "should I do it?" > Reditt post .. "Hey i'm successful and I fap heheh, it's all pseudo science heheh"

SO I fap.

And I feel like shit, like I've been punctured & winded and castrated and like I need to pee and it kinda hurts, and then I also seem to get more unlucky and a cascade of bullshit.

It's no fap time.

I'l dleete my post once u seen ti so u can be tidy.

@ThePoint For me, being fully engaged in various activities for most of the day is key, focusing your attention on those, not on what you'd like to avoid.

Where does your attention go to in your free time? Put it on something constructive.

I've also noticed that caffeine, especially on sedentary days, doesn't seem to help at all. Generally, it makes me anxious and breathing gets shallow, short and fast, making me look for ways of releasing that pent up energy as a means of quick relief or gratification.

Cold showers are worth a try.

@Optimized Life Perhaps that person is successful in spite of him fapping. Imagine he didn’t fap, he might be more successful. Or maybe not. Who knows, everyone is different.

Leo for example says he doesn’t really notice a change and only feels more horny if he abstains.

You don’t need to delete anything, comments and discussion are completely welcome on this thread :)

It’s a good point. I feel numb to everything though. I don’t enjoy any activities or any of the things I used to be interested in, so everything has the same level of flatness mostly.

My attention in my free time is usually “blank”. I need to use the logical part of my brain to research and stuff to find a solution, then that’s where my attention goes. But then I get urges.

Cold showers worked great before I got anhedonia, like I felt alive.

After I got anhedonia they don’t do anything at all. I always feel dead inside no matter what I do. I’ll figure out a solution at some point hopefully.
