Sometimes the distraction can be the content itself tho. Remember Youtube is programmed to keep you on that site. So it will recommend you the best videos to trap you ;)

I do use ad blocks and some other apps to close ads for me. However, I feel that some ads are actually good. 

The ads remind you on what other people are selling at this time. It keeps you up to date.

Ads piss me off beyond measure.

Spirits can send you messages through it though.

unfortunately, i don't choose to look at it or not (it's here by default).
