Supplement advice for dad with Alzheimer / Parkinsons traits

9 posts in this topic

I'm looking for advice on nootropics and supplements for my dad.

Nobody actually knows what my dad has. First they diagnosed him with Parkinsons (without the tremors), then with Alzheimers, then again with Parkinsons and now they say it's not that either.

He's extremely slow and stiff to move, incontinent, poor mouth muscle control and drooling, choking on food etc. He can have a slow reaction time to questions, or none at all and can seem distant from the world, although I would disagree that he is (just socially awkward which he's always been).

These symptoms came about very gradually. My best guess is it's a result of years of heavy alcohol consumption, paint fumes (back before that shit was regulated there was some bad stuff in paint), perhaps trauma in combination with a quirky personality he's always had.

I'm considering neurofeedback and will probably get him started on that once I have the money. I myself take armodafinil and a stack of other nootropics including L-theanine, NALT, NAC, spirulina among others. I'm just not sure if those would also be right for his situation.

I wonder if anyone has knowledge of this topic or experience.

How far is he in the condition? Does he know who you are, who people around himare? Can he recall memories from the past? Does he still have sense of humour, hygiene, interest in food, socialising etc? These would define progression of Alzheimer's. (if there is some)

Regarding the signs you mentioned that is a clear Parkinson's especially the loss of muscle control and stiff movement..unfortunatelly most of western medicine does not have any answer for that besides feeding these people with L-Dopa but by no means stop researching. There are probably still some procedures or supplements that could help him.

Try speaking to a naturopath or a good functional doctor in your area. Also dr Bredesen has put a lot of research towards Alzheimer's and there are some centres around the world that try to replicate his work mainly with supplements. Dr Morse may also have some tips if he was willing to go down the raw fruitarian way which could be challenging for someone with altering state of conciousness I admit.

  • Piracetam + Alpha-GPC
  • Mucuna Pruriens
  • Modafinil
  • NALT, Alcar
  • Coq10

? Those are from the top of my head. The stuff I would take if I was old and people were telling me that it is going downhill.

Oh absolutely (minus the hygiene). Sorry for my ignorance on the topic, I think maybe he's only been diagnosed with Parkinsons, not Alzheimer's.

Thanks for your help guys, I'll look into this further.

I think cannabis has been helpful to some people with Parkinsons. I don't know too much about this topic, you'd have to look into that more.

Kundalini will heal completely the condition of Alzeimer.

Find a Kundalini Master and Energy Healer, it can boost your dad and yourself as you won't believe.

Today's society is very skeptic about this things, but i can assure you, any condition is currable with initiation.

top on the list of nootropics against alzheimer‘s was lions mane and the clubmoss - can’t remember the exact name.

ashwaghanda, brahmi and rhodiola might be helpful with parkinson’s.
