Crypto investing and speculation

12 posts in this topic

I became inactive in this forum, when I found out about crypto investments. I invested into startup projects that use smart contracts on the blockchain. I never put money into Bitcoin.

But those assets (tokens) relate in market value to Bitcoin. With Bitcoin rising, my 10,000 USD grew to over 500,000 USD in 6 months. I didn't sell anything. Currently, as I am typing this, I have about 50,000 USD.

It's harder now to find good projects and actually get in. Some projects sell only to people who know about them early and invest 100,000 USD or more and never do advertising. Having information early is becoming a competitive advantage. That's because at least 95% of projects are not investible for my standards and the few that are run by professionals who have experience making things happen, those allow very few investors in. And ultimately any new investment in blockchain requires Bitcoin to go up in price again. So the opportunities need to be generated by putting in the time and then you still have to be lucky.

II personally expect Bitcoin to go lower still and then start rising again. Mid-May, there is an important conference in New York. I assume that at that time, Bitcoin will start for another bull run. I also expect it to crash again in a few months. I intend to sell on the way up this time. Obviously, there is zero guarantee, that this will unfold that way. I could lose more. Speculation is about taking risk and crypto is currently the most risky asset class. In 2017, it was the most lucrative. If it's going to be very lucrative in 2018, I don't know. I speculate on it, putting in the time.

I still do research for many hours each day, hunting down projects that few people know about, sometimes months before their official ICO (which is like an IPO where companies sell shares for the first time).

I am interested in sharing work and information with likeminded people. I invest 80 to 120 hours per week researching. I am not interested in giving investment advice to lazy people. But I am happy to answer general questions, if you have any.

People who are also putting in work in research and networking, intel may send me a PM.

People who have professional level skills in marketing (SEO, viral, blog-networks etc. ... what does not work anymore is adwords, FB-ads etc.) would be very welcome. Having marketing people on board could give us as a group extra opportunities and could be rewarded.

The topic is not sexy right now. That's good in my book. These are times of opportunity.

bitcoin plays into the unconciousness of the modern society wanting a lot for nothing..careful, this is a very, very thin ice and an abys so deep that most will never ever be able to climb out of it. There is little difference with gambling .

Just a friendly word of caution.

@mostly harmless I think investing in cryptos is just like gambling in casino. Therefore I think it is too risky. But what do you think about making your own ICOs? I think that’s where all the opportunities are. Isn’t that the most lucrative?

I bought in december, then the big crash and now waiting and holding...

But now I know all the ups and down are artifically manipulated by banks via fake news, whales, and bulltraps...

having learnt the lesson, now the way to make money is to think like them.

We have to treat crypto like any other investment.

Sorry. Not sure how this thread slipped through my radar. It should have been locked long ago.

We do not allow investment schemes like this on this forum. This is a variation on get-rich-quick-schemes which goes against the heart of our work here.

Invest all you want, but do not recruit members of this forum into your investment schemes.
