Paradoxes

11 posts in this topic

When reading a paradoxical sentence containing two completely opposite words you pause a little bit think about it for a while and then you come to this moment when you say yeah that's an interesting way to put it and it feels like you've understood it but when you come back to the sentence again you realize it's logically not possible to ever understand a sentence like that yet it feels different.

So do we really understand paradoxes or is the feeling only an illusion ? In either case how can it be?

To the rational mind paradoxes are the enemy. The true self loves them though. Something that is and is not simultaneously. Pure beauty.

@sarapr could you give some paradoxes as examples?

@sarapr it’s not hard to understand, it’s hard to accept - that there is only God, One, or whatever we’d like to call it. QM’s goes a long way in understanding, the rest is self inquiry. It only looks like things because a perceiver thinks it is separate. Everything is Nothing (God). If you look closely enough at the rain, you can see it is the ocean limiting itself, unconditionally. The drops seem to move so damn fast though.

You mean it's possible to grasp it intellectually.
There is no way you can think yourself in this stuff, it has to be experienced, what we understand or not means jackshit here.

(I know you know, but for the newbies this has to be emphasized)

God is love

Whoever lives in love lives in God

And God in them

@Shin oh yeah. Lol. You’re right. Thanks!

Perhaps though, this is the case, only because we have been told otherwise, for a long time. Nonetheless, you are right about that.

Logical understanding is not the only kind of understanding.  I used a paradox recently:  It is possible to be dispassionately passionate.  That looks like a logical contradiction on the surface, but it actually makes sense.
