Acne, hormones and exercise

10 posts in this topic

So since I started my first tear in college, I started to get more acne, It begun when I was 20 and the last time I had serious acne was 3-4 years ago. This is strange, because it looks like puberty 2.0. I thought my diet was the cause of this annoyance, but according to studies, diet isn't that crucial to acne (I eat vegetarian for 1,5 years) and this is the case for hygiene too. Most studies say that genetics and hormones are the main causes.

  • So I thought it was strange to hit puberty 2.0. I trait my body differently:
  • I only masturbate once a week, but I don't really feel the need to (I was very addicted to porn and masturbation);
  • I exercise every other day and this resulted in a very muscular core (six-pack) and a lean athletic build;
  • I eat more calories and vegetables;
  • I'm more exposed to females in college (before only males).

So I think my exercise routine and exposure to females and lack of ejaculation are correlated and cause strong hormonal shifts that result in acne.

Any thought?

Suggestions to cure me are welcome!

@Marinus there is an overhwleming evidence that diet is related to acne. Milk is the number 1 suspect

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21335995
"Both, restriction of milk consumption or generation of less insulinotropic milk will have an enormous impact on the prevention of epidemic western diseases like obesity, diabetes mellitus, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and acne."

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2715202/
"The evidence assembled here suggests that dairy-sourced hormones, not being subject to any innate feedback inhibition, may be the source of the androgenic and mitogenic progestins that drive acne, prostate and breast cancer."

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27241803
Consumption of low-fat/skim milk, but not full-fat milk, was positively associated with acne.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15692464
We found a positive association with acne for intake of total milk and skim milk. We hypothesize that the association with milk may be because of the presence of hormones and bioactive molecules in milk.

Maybe try removing things like gluten, dairy and any junk food out of your diet for a month or two if you haven't already? Did the trick for me after years of trying acne creams and all sorts. Go experimental, have fun with it!

Also, constantly thinking and stressing about your acne will only worsen the problem. After several months of having the least acne I could remember, someone said that my acne had really improved. I forgot all about it by that point but once I started thinking about them again, the acne suddenly became worse again.

@Nahm That can be the case, my thinking is clouded by questions, meanly about a girl that is apparently very disfunctional. My meditation quality has also been very low since having acne and sometimes being alive feels like a prison.

@Marinus I am sorry to hear that.  got to let it go man. Sounds like you’re hanging on to some thoughts, those ‘block’ the flow. Blocking the flow starts to effect the body.  I believe In this way...

It’s helps me to be mindful of the duality, and flip that coin. It is true that it is hard to just let go of thoughts, especially ones relative to the heart matters - it is true that it is easy to just let go of thoughts, especially the ones relative to the heart matters. The one we repeat to ourselves, is the one we believe & experience. You’re a smart guy, you’ll figure it out. ??❤️

Cut the sugar man, that what causes most of the time. All sugar if possible, besides fruits. Take cold showers and make sure you get omega3.

I'm 33, i stopped drinking milk 6 months ago and a collection dormant cystic pimples I had on certain parts of my face and back of my neck FOR YEARS actually became active a couple of days into no milked, leaked pus for a few hours and cleared up and have not never come back. It sounds like BS but it's true. I also notice I breathe much deeper as my sinuses were actually congested but I was so used to how I had breathed my whole life I didn't even know. Keep in mind this meant less caffine as I was also having 3 or 4 coffees, no breakfast cereal - refined grains - which I was sometimes eating sometimes twice a day, and I was also beginning to meditate. So I cannot pinpoint exactly what did what, or if it was a synergy of effects. It seems like meditation reduces anxiety and stress, refined grains screw with your blood sugar levels and strip your body of vitamin Bs so removing them creates a calmness and balance and finally the hormones in the milk are just plain chemicals mildly poisoning us. I hope you try a number of things, one at a time so you can better determine what each individual thing does, and then report back because I'm intrigued myself.

I've successfully cleared up pretty much all of my acne by tracking my diet and getting a feel for which foods seem to have a correlation with my acne. From my journaling I've identified high carbohydrate intake and fats high in omega 6 as the probably causes of my acne. Perhaps eliminating these will help you as well, but I recommend tracking everything you consume so you get a feel for how food affects your skin.
