Positive Habits That Changed Your Life.

41 posts in this topic

I'm looking for habits, that once done regularly, changed your life in a really significant way. I won't include reading because it's part of my soul as intellegentsia ( Ego, seriously ? laugh with me on this one) and brushing my teeth as it's really basic.

The ones that had a DRASTIC change :

Meditation
Going out and socializing
Nofap
Energy cleanse

Waking up at 6am every morning.

Reading Self Help books...watching self help videos.

Quitting smoking cold turkey. (2 months off them now) :)

Meditating every day....my friends call me weird because of this one. (I guess I couldn't really call them friends then)

For me, cardio is a big one. Running everyday for at least 15 minutes makes me feel alive. I always heard about it being very effective but until I tried it consistently for a while I didn't believe it would make such a huge positive difference in my perspective about life.

There is nothing that can bring you to the now like another grown man trying to strangle you.

They call you weird, because they'll never know how powerful this is. ;)

I meditate regularly, too.

I know this thread is about good habits and I don't want to distract too much from that, but I'd like to caution the men here on the NoFap phenomenon. I'm not necessarily condemning its practice, because I think it could be good as a discipline test, but 1) a lot of the evidence surrounding its benefits are anecdotal (speaking strictly of the NoFap Reddit page)
2) To some degree, "if you don't use it, you lose it" is true. It's important to get erections regularly because its been suggested that infrequent erections can harm sexual potency. http://www.medicaldaily.com/use-it-or-lose-it-how-age-hormones-and-masturbation-predict-sexual-health-329366 Granted this is probably more relevant to older men, but why risk it? 3) Some evidence shows that regular ejaculation can help ward off prostate cancer. http://www.harvardprostateknowledge.org/does-frequent-ejaculation-help-ward-off-prostate-cancer

4) (anecdotal) I pound my clown all the time and I'm still a beast in the gym, I'm productive at work, my test levels are fine, and I'm able to lay down the law with my wife for as long as she wants because I have many opportunities to practice. Giggity, giggity, aaaalll right. Take care of your dick, gents.

As for my habits:

Getting in the gym, reading, working on my emotional imperturbability, visualization and affirmation, getting my macros in, continuity of mindfulness practice (if I can't sit down and do it formally).

 - Avoid ALL negative people in your circle of friends (try to make them understand how negative they are first), it took a lot of negativity out of my life and opened loads of doors. It also brought new positive people ! (like a magic want pretty much).

-Meditate (but still working out how to stay regular though!)

-Eating more healthy (Less red meat and sugars for example that definitely works!)

-Exercise as often as you can (gives you more energy and at the same time relaxes you!)

-Having a great relationship (and that will solve the NoFap dilemma :) , having sex is one of the most healthy things in the world)

Mindful meditation changed me a lot and it made me feel much more positive

Reading much more books and more meaningful ones

Eating healthier

I need to add exercise to the list. I am beginning to exercise but not daily, I want to make it daily.

- Meditation

- Mindfulness+journaling

- Pushing my comfort zone in social interactions every time.

- becoming the Ultimate Mental Masturbater and stuck in a state of analysis paralysis. (Not the best thing to do but it changed my whole perspective on life.)

@Neuroticon I haven't spend my time to inform me about the negative effects of these bad habits, but how do you regard these effects personally.

Hey Tim.

I've put up a thread on NoFap in the relationships and sexuality subforum where I listed all the benefits. You should check that out.
See this for further information.

  • The big one, meditation
  • Becoming more introvert than extrovert (how I was for most of life). Has aided me in personal development, self growth, and understanding the higher self
  • Less drinking, less smoking pot
  • Eating healthy, switching over to a complete vegan/pescatarian diet within the next few months
  • Realizing my true nature, spreading more love around
  • So much more I could list :)
