Does the dog think a human is a feeling?

I think dogs can pattern match sequences. They can observe and know or guess what might occur next.

My pup will know it is time to leave the house in the morning based on a sequence of sounds I make.

There are cognitive processes involved in being able to do the above: associative learning (sound cues), sequential pattern recognition (she will only motion to go when things happen in a rough order, instead of all events being independent), anticipation (predictive processing I think it is called) and generalisation (the sounds I make might change a bit, but the overall pattern signals we are leaving).

I think this implies a "thinking" although it might not be anything like we experience thinking to be. Much less distinct from feeling. Perhaps one big soup.

Probably the best way you can understand it is picturing how babies/kids are attached to their parents. They constantly look for their attention. A dog is like a todler their entire life.

Also dogs are blessed with excellent smell. Something to envy.

A dog feels very different from a cat. A dog feels home when he sees you. A dog feels safe when he sees you. A dog is a perfect servant. Always loyal to the end. A dog will give his life to save you. A dog is one of the most divine acts of love on this planet.

@Joseph Maynor Yeah I agree. That’s what I don’t think means no?

It has to be speculative.  I'm pretty smart, but I can't say I can always read a dog's mind.

@Joseph Maynor I mean, it doesn’t speak. Do you think it thinks thoughts? We would have to get deep into what thoughts are, types of thoughts.

I really don’t know. Dogs have different capabilities.

I personally don’t think they think thoughts. They surely have some

@Joseph Maynor Well, that’s a big contemplation.

But, without thinking too hard look at the behaviour and capacity of dogs… they are not thinking much. They, to me, I think, I speculate think have have Dog consciousness and dog cognition and think dog thoughts. But, compared to human thought they aren’t really thoughts likely more feelings. I actually think integrals post is pretty apt.

It depends on what we define thinking to be.  Is thinking abstract or is it procedural, and what is the intersection there?  I don't think we have a clear understanding of what thinking is.
