Anyone been following Russell brand’s rape trial?

The worst part about jail boys is just the waiting.  The constant waiting. Fuck. Gives me chills. One holding cell to the next one. You can't even sleep on these benches. Just hours of torture.

That was 3 days. Imagine 3 years.

I wonder if Russell will survive this ordeal.

The thought of prison makes me realize how much I am still attached to the body.

 I can't imagine. I would hang myself.

Yeah, I think I would get claustrophobic.

And no sense of nature, just those cold walls, fuck.

Plenty of time to focus on God realization I guess.

Perfect time to meditate yourself to enlightenment, No?

@Inliytened1 Your suffering was exacerbated by acute shame, which eventually subsides and you acclimate. Prison isn’t as rough as it seems. Prison is usually more pleasant than county because in county there’s little predictability - you’re in a totally new environment and you don’t know when the judge will see you or when you’ll get out, so you’re just there wallowing in shame and uncertainty. In prison, you know “this is my home for X amount of time, this is what time I eat, these are the people” etc.

How can you even call yourself spiritual if you can’t endure 3 years in prison? You should have the ability to be at ease in 23/7 solitary confinement, lol.

What if this is just fascination + identity + seriousness being inflated into universal importance?

Yeah. You go do it then.

No you're right.  If I really was facing some serious time I would have no choice but to turn to spirituality.  To meditation. Hell I was there.  But I wasn't pushed to that. You are correct though. It's not that I couldn't do three years.  It would be the shame of fucking my life up.

It seems like 3 years would fuck your life up, but it would also offer a clean slate, a reset. When you get out, you will have little to no physical attachments, you’ll be very low maintenance, you’ll have dropped your toxic addictions like scrolling on a phone, and you can start fresh from a plan you’ve spent 3 years working on. Prison is like the military in that it forces structure and doesn’t make it easy for you to engage in common vices. It makes it easy to get in good physical shape. It reminds you that you have a choice to take this life seriously or not.

Many people could benefit from such a reset, but most people squander the time. I have a cousin who spent half of his life in and out of prison and I offered to send him any books he wanted, but he just preferred to read fiction from the prison library.

I suspect Brand will develop his con artistry, rather than shed it.

It’s surprising he got convicted for the rape as there was only what she said she’d remembered and the encounter started of consensual and then became non consensual as she wasn’t happy with the anal part.

I personally think signals got misread. And they were both engaging in reckless , risky sex.

there should be accountability on his part but 10 years for that does seem very severe. Particularly as there isnt definite proof.

this is what he’s going down for 8-12 years for.

the sexual assault charges were also surprising as there were witnesses yet none of them testified as they couldn’t remember either. So again. Just what the women said happened.

also was refused to be allowed to say goodbye to his three kids. One whos birthday was the day before the conviction. Straight into custody.

Have you spent a day there? You might change your tune if you did. Ain't no fucking reset. Try being shackled everywhere you go. And they lock the cell down. No clocks. Time stops.

Yeah, his punishment will be too high for the crime.

Anal sex is not worth 10 years in prison. Murderers get 10 year terms.

2 years would be enough for his crimes. And that would avoid destorying his family. 10 years will destroy his family.

The sentence is suppose to be Monday.  The judge will look at the totality of the circumstances, including the harm done to the victims and then make his decision.  Everyone else has an uninformed opinion.
