Isnt this getting old when you learn that homophobia is dumb.

Like when I see this, I remember that I used to find this funny as a teen, but it was also kind of homophobic and immature.

..

The thread starts to smell like heteronormative dick

When a war breaks out we will send all the women on this forum to the front line, because they are all strong and independent women who can do things better, in fact I'm sure they will insit to be put on the front line so they can occupy their 50% quota😁

Women usually cook and clean better than men. @Emerald

That's true in general, if you organized all men and women on a bell curve.

But don't worry, there are plenty of men who are very tidy and who are very adept at cooking... even if women are generally better at those skills if you look at the wider population.

So, you don't have to worry if you currently lack those skills. You can absolutely improve... even if you're a man.

@Emerald I mean, not a single man has milk bearing breasts, the ability to give birth. I think you can make a pretty fundamental argument on which sex is biologically optimized for raising children.

Optimization isn’t total ability…

Humans with more masculine traits are better at masculine things. Huh,

Personally, I don’t believe women hunted along side men as a common occurrence is most tribes. I think the article is bad.

I think most women body’s are clearly not designed for hunting.

As he most probably was joking/teasing, it actually makes sense. As women are more conscientious and agreeable, more careful with appearance, they see more nuances... they learn to cook and clean better.

Men might learn that too, maybe even better, but only if you make a competition out of it. E.G Masterchef/Masterservant

@Emerald Also, back then providing meant hunting or gathering which is like 2 things. It could also include, fighting, defending, etc..

We know that men and women did bits of both, and men did the majority of hunting especially for bigger animals. Women, did many tasks including gathering, crafting, socializing, cooking. Men did these tasks too.

Men are optimized for providing.

They surely aren’t optimized for giving birth and having kids. Men gotta have a thing.

An optimization isn’t a total list of ability or potential.

Even look at dating. Women want a guy who provides a lot of the time. Why is that? It’s not a universal rule but, it is most of the time the case.

Also, can we admit that modern women are a new thing? An evolution of the mind, culture, etc? And, so far we can’t judge the cultures through this lens…

Its clear to me… in my opinion that most women, are optimized in body and mind for raising children then compared to most men.

This topic makes me sad to read.

It is far easier to fool someone, than to convince them they have been fooled.

None of this is easy to wrap my head around. I am failing to communicate well.

I think men and women are equals. I also think there is an asymmetry in their biology and I think that has value. I’m not convinced entirely by the article in question. It in some ways says women are superior to men as hunters and in some ways wants to equate them in their physical abilities. It does not address women’s temperamental differences, or preferences and its biased toward hunting being a sign of superiority. It does not address happiness, wellbeing, safety considerations of children and babies, etc. Hunting can be dangerous why would a tribe risk that?

I shared in this thread that research shows in these tribes men and women shared many responsibilities. Some shared more equally, and other not. Hunting and gathering of various things is shared in many cultures. But, even then men were primary hunters.

Leo appears to be over simplifying things which is worth reflecting on.

Men and women are different by design. That’s why there is two sexes. They are complimentary. Even with these split optimizations both are capable of learning, doing, and excelling in a variety of different fields and abilities.

That being said there are physical, cognitive, temperamental, hormonal, differences etc. These do exist and should be able to be explored without a lens of hierarchy. If truly a sex is better at a task it should be admitted. However, better isn’t ultimate.

It is a difficult subject to understand and accept. This is why I've spent years learning about it. Because it is so important and I see soo much damage done by people not understanding it.

Of course it is difficult. Look how much attention and drama this subject creates here for years.

Of course he was joking, as a means of trying to take a dig... and imply that women's only strengths are things like motherhood, cooking, and cleaning.

He even said he was doing it to "teach me" through "suffering" because of my "resentment towards men".

But I was being serious. Women are probably better at those tasks if you organize everyone on a bell curve.

And I was joking that he needn't worry so much about his gender's deficits... as his 'male handicaps';) won't hold him back from developing those skills.
