Most people lie down.

Laying down is disorienting.

You are not going to lay awake for long periods of time. But you can sit for hours.

If you're a newbie or otherwise unprepared (or worse, fighting the experience) there is too much information coming in for your biology to process  what is happening to it so it more or less goes into a state of shock or violent destruction of some kind.  If you're lucky you'll just black out and spasm a little or have some sort of out of body experience where you're not dealing with the full brunt of the overload.

In most if not all of these cases its from taking too much.  Thats not to say there aren't people who just cant handle it period because there are.

Ideally, to not set your house on fire, you go up incrementally, maybe develop a bit of a tolerance and keep going until you find what the cutoff dose is for you.  You'll figure it out believe me.

Conversing with others from the Christ awareness is almost life changing when you see whats really happening.

Could you explain what you mean by Christ consciousness and how you can discern what is really happening if what you’re describing here is still a state of identifiable boundaries and distinctions that’s being interpreted through the lens of a ‘self’?

I can do better than that.  I can point to it.  Its whatever you are experiencing right now.  Thats the miracle.  You're that miracle.  Reality isn't veiled, its your perception.

Because theres a difference (except there isnt - the paradox that cant be resolved from the human perspective) between Self with a capital S and self with a little one.  Its not one or the other its both - you can look through either end of the telescope you choose.  When Jesus takes the wheel you have no doubts about what you're experiencing.  You're both creator and creation wrapped up in one splendid shiny bow.  

Then you go back to ego because the game is more interesting to play that way.  The stakes become real again.  Conversations and sex aren't awkward.  Food is something you look forward too, you have people you can love and hate etc etc

But conversing, with a loved one, post ego death, reveals unto the observer the mechanics of how everything is working "behind the scenes" so to speak but is really in front of your face every waking moment.  The idea of no separation goes from guesswork to lived experience and it all clicks for you.
