Men: How do you feel & react when you see women cry?

180 posts in this topic

@Schizophonia Btw, I think we probably fundamentally misunderstand each other on this topic. 🤣 Probably because I haven’t clarified shit hahaha.

The things I cry about are not like daily happenings where my ice cream falls on the ground, for example. Essentially I’m doing shadow work consistently. Things that come up are usually „deeper” and when they’re resolved/cried out enough, they’re gone, likely forever. I forget about them. If something is a more serious knot though, it requires more time/crying/processing of course.

I’m into shadow work now. That’s the gist of it. And again, don’t fool yourself that you don’t have a shadow. Dissociation is a powerful mechanism which the mind consistently engages in (unless you break the habit), so you’re likely not aware of your triggers, not giving them the space.

That’s a lot of speculation about someone you barely know, buddy.

You acknowledged the joke might have been misplaced, then attacked my intelligence and competence and brought up your future accomplishments. You also tried to discredit the thread itself.

That may read as insecurity about how you’re perceived, rather than evidence of how I am.

No because even if it was unconscious or hidde, there was a subtle desire for power behind your remark specifically to use me as a foil to position yourself as the mature, virtuous one; to put yourself above me.

And I’m a gorilla too so I defend my turf by throwing it in your face that you’re saying this because you aren't capable of being as intelligent as I am, and so you're using this roleplay as a coping mechanism.

Further proof is that you’re targeting me even though I only make jokes occasionally and you targeted Meta Male, even though he rarely posts and makes jokes even less often.

You can question moderation, but warning points are part of this forum’s system. Calling a moderator sadistic or paranoid doesn’t explain why enforcing the rules was wrong.

I criticized the derailment. You turned it into a contest over intelligence, accomplishments, and authority.

I have nothing against Sincerity, I just said that because I like dissecting people; I do my Inspector Gadget with his magnifying glass saying "Ah you're like that because of this or that which causes this."

You do realise there are many, many other possible explanations for tears, right?

Like stubbing your little toe on the table lol.

More seriously you can suffer from chronic issues like period pain for example but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

Also you are a woman and your hormones makes you more emotional; I know it as i am mentally ill I repeatedly used products that caused estrogenic effects and I was emotional and moody in general.

Shield yourself from stimuli? Why would you do that, why would you hide from sadness? "Shield" is hiding, the inverse is not seeking sadness but facing it.

I don't hide from sadness; my life including my introspection is simply structured in such a way that there is no sadness most of the time.

Ohh be careful with that one. 😆

Yes of course you know I'm half crazy lol.

if she's hot, her cry doesn't produce anything on me. She already had an easy life.

I may even enjoy it a bit. I feel like some divine justice is balancing the suffering in the world.

If she's a 7 or under then I start to feel more emphatic.

I feel the same for men, if I saw a chad cry I wouldn't care.

I totally get it it’s happened to me too; It probably helped develop my paradigm.

It’s just that especially right now I’m in wojak zoomer entrepreneur/conservative mode so I view these games rather with a bad eye.

A woman being hot doesn't guarantee her an easy life.

Attractive women are often on the receiving end of terrible things, solely on the basis of being attractive.

Plus, you have all the other un-skippable things about life that make life hard.

Have some empathy. Hot women are people too.

You’re inventing a motive and calling it hidden. That doesn’t make it evidence.

to use me as a foil to position yourself as the mature, virtuous one; to put yourself above me.

I criticized a juvenile routine. You’ve turned that into a theory about my entire relationship to you. My wording was condescending, sure. That doesn’t establish your theory.

Quote

And I’m a gorilla too so I defend my turf

Then you’re describing your own status concerns. You haven’t established mine.

Quote

you aren't capable of being as intelligent as I am

You barely know me. This is an insult dressed up as an explanation. If your intelligence is relevant, use it to address what I actually said.

Quote

and so you're using this roleplay as a coping mechanism.

You’re using one unsupported claim to prop up another: I’m supposedly inadequate, so my criticism must be compensation. Where’s the evidence for either?

Quote

Further proof is that you’re targeting me even though I only make jokes occasionally

You started this round. That’s why I included you. Monster Energy is the more persistent example. There’s no mystery here requiring psychological dissection.

Quote

and you targeted Meta Male, even though he rarely posts and makes jokes even less often.

He participated too. Posting rarely doesn’t exempt that particular post from criticism. Calling this “further proof” doesn’t make it proof.

Quote

I have nothing against Sincerity

That doesn’t answer whether calling him sadistic or paranoid was justified.

Quote

I just said that because I like dissecting people

Enjoying it doesn’t mean you’re good at it. An explanation still needs evidence.

Quote

I do my Inspector Gadget with his magnifying glass saying "Ah you're like that because of this or that which causes this."

Exactly. You’re skipping the part where you establish that your explanation fits.

@Schizophonia

Your comments about crying show the same issue. You called it “hurting yourself” and said it means “you can’t leave yourself alone.” Sincerity then explained that he was listening to what came up, letting it out, and continuing with his day. That’s a different account from the one you assigned him.

Meanwhile, you explained your own lack of crying by saying “there is nothing that needs to be released.” How did you establish that? You described shielding yourself from things that bring up sadness, but not bringing something up doesn’t establish that there’s nothing there.

You’re asking us to trust your understanding of your own emotional life while dismissing someone else’s account of theirs. If you can misread what Sincerity is plainly describing, why treat your explanation of yourself as beyond question?

You eventually said, “I totally get it it’s happened to me too,” but still called these experiences “games.” That makes the dismissal harder to understand. You recognized the experience yourself, yet continued framing it negatively.

I’m not saying you need to cry more or that I know what’s happening underneath your approach. I’m saying you haven’t justified treating your lack of tears as evidence that nothing needs processing, while treating someone else’s tears as evidence that they’re hurting themselves.

That’s also what you’re doing with me. Your insults get explained as “defending your turf,” while my criticism gets explained as intellectual inadequacy and a hidden desire for power. You acknowledge the joke might have been misplaced, but still insist my objection must come from something wrong with me.

You’re giving yourself the benefit of context while treating your negative interpretation of someone else as the explanation. Calling that “dissecting people” doesn’t make it accurate.

Of course life as a human is hard no matter who you are, but some people have it easier than others.

I would feel emphatic if something truly bad happened to them like being homeless but in general I feel less emphatic for rich or physically blessed people.

I've seen very attractive blonde women in rich neighborhoods crying and what comes to my mind is: "Finally something happened to them!"

Also when a woman cries she gets a lot of attention but if a man cries no one cares.

I'm just ranting don't take everything I say 100% literal, maybe 90%

No.

Correlation isn't causation. I reject this.

If appreciate you don't tell me how I am. You don't know anything. I can think of many examples that might question if men are less emotional.

@Natasha Tori Maru

The main difference between men and women isn't the capacity to feel emotions or think linearly, but the precedence of priorities. I know that women are capable of sound logic and high-level reasoning. But that doesn't mean they prefer or default to that.

Women are more emotional from a decision-making standpoint. They tend to base their decisions on relational reality rather than factual reality. This is because women are more sensitive and tend to value connection and harmony more than cold truth.

The need to draw a boundary regarding what someone thinks or says about what you are is an example of how emotions dictate your life. It might feel like an attack on your core identity and how you view yourself (relationship with yourself), even though it is more of an attempt at truth from the masculine perspective.

I don't know why you're saying that; I just wanted to point out that men tend to cry less due to their endocrine profile. And I am a man.

Quote

You don't know anything.

23 years of life as a male and several years of experience with exogenous hormones (testosterone, DHEA, Clomid, aromatase inhibitors such as Aromasin, etc.)

Men are much less emotional in average yes, or to be more precise the e-motion-al is experienced more as an external object which implies a different set of behaviors.

@Schizophonia

How do you distinguish between actually understanding someone’s psychology and just believing your own interpretation of it?

I’m sorry if my initial callout was condescending.  I didn’t mean to lump everyone together. I find the jokes genuinely tiresome on the forum.
