@Monster Energy You really can't seem to interact with people without making everything sexual, can you? It's fucking weird.

@yetineti Not every exchange needs to be a contribution to the human condition.

@meta_male Nobody's asking you to contribute to humanity. At this point, contributing to a conversation would be a promising start.

We’re literally in the dating section. Do you want me to talk about the weather in Africa instead?

@Monster Energy There's a whole spectrum between sexual innuendo and African weather. Is your conversational range really that limited?

You guys have been doing this same juvenile routine for ages. It’s not particularly clever, funny, or original. It’s just predictable and tiresome.

And before the inevitable “lighten up” response, I have nothing against humor. I just don’t think repeating the same adolescent bullshit every time someone tries to have a conversation is much of a personality.

@Ulax

Imagine being so predictable that even your attempt at mockery was anticipated.

I’d be curious how the men here feel and react when they cry.

I get very excited and grateful.

For two reasons.

One I know that my nervous system will calm down after.

Two it is a potential sign of healing.

Most predictable guy of all time right here. I actually won an award for it :P

@Ulax

Yeah, I can tell. You’ve been riding that achievement ever since. So predictably, you probably would’ve just fucked the girl in the washer.

Anyway, there’s a time and place for humor. Being able to take a joke doesn’t mean every serious conversation needs to turn into a fucking comedy routine. Let’s get back to the actual discussion.

—>Tonight (Monday) is my comedy night. I love comedy so much I plan for it. Maybe you guys should too.

—>Real comedians don’t try to force their comedy into the worse scenarios for it. Trolls do.

What he said doesn't really mean anything, because in practice that sequence only applies to simple immediate survival threats, but complex social cues don't work that way.

The limbic system is not responsible for conscious interpretation or processing complex context. It is responsible for memory and motivation and other low level functions, but seeing another person crying doesn't necessarily trigger the limbic system. In fact, it rarely does, especially without context.

Body language signals don't typically pass by the limbic system like say a loud sound like a gun fire. The meaning of body language is often ambiguous and requires conscious interpretation. The brain usually has to evaluate the context in the cortex first before the limbic system even knows whether to react with distress, empathy, or indifference. Without cortical interpretation, the stimulus lacks the social meaning required to trigger that emotional cascade in the first place.

You still encode the affect of faces in the amygdala 74 ms after the signal, i.e. in the limbic system. That's the starting phase of the cascade. But the neurological model is only a simplification to explain the behavior. The behavioral cascade is signal -> habitual response -> conscious interpretation. Even if some of the habitual response (involving context information) can be said to belong to the cortex, you don't actually evaluate the information consciously (certainly not "logically" as you're talking about) before it's evaluated habitually.

6-7 month olds start to show increased reactions to negative faces, then 8-12 month olds start to use context information to judge the meaning of the faces. Are you saying for you as a 8-12 month old, thinking (logically) happened before habitual emotional responses? Did you think logically as a 1 year old? Obviously no. You were encoding and interpreting habitually, building up that repetoire which you then express still to this day. It's just over time as you mature, you become more adept at top-down responses to the signals.

And even that becomes habitual; the suppression that happens more often in men happens habitually, really quickly. Higher-order logical thinking happens way down the line.

@Monster Energy

I’m not apologizing. My criticism is based on your own posts:

You sexualized “bite your tongue”:
https://www.actualized.org/forum/topic/116580-men-how-do-you-feel-react-when-you-see-women-cry/?comment=1829363&do=findComment

You defended that because we’re in the dating section:
https://www.actualized.org/forum/topic/116580-men-how-do-you-feel-react-when-you-see-women-cry/?comment=1829371&do=findComment

You wrote, “Everyone is a pedophile to a degree; I happen to be someone who can admit it.” You compared harmful acts by pedophiles to “stealing candy from a friend” and called them “not that dangerous”:
https://www.actualized.org/forum/topic/114301-have-empathy-for-pedophiles/?comment=1763504&do=findComment

You presented disgust at child rape as evidence of inferior consciousness and also ‘Sex is incredibly pleasurable; it’s no wonder so many become pedophiles’:
https://www.actualized.org/forum/topic/114301-have-empathy-for-pedophiles/?comment=1763490&do=findComment

We can debate “perv” all day. You’ve still derailed this thread through sexual innuendo, and those earlier statements deserve criticism. Address what you wrote.

You’re so obsessed with me, it’s getting worrying. I don’t want to have to involve the police, but I will do what I have to if this continues.
