@Judy2 you're luggage got lost in my city hehe. I would have said something a bit more positive, like it isn't terrible, but you didn't ask him a question or made a funny statement so there is nothing much he can respond to besides "oh that is not great to hear", if he lives a positive life he probably resonates with a bit more funny or positive, light things not talking about lost luggage when he doesn't know you at all.

You should have because otherwise he might just take you for some random person who's just killing time. Especially since you don't come across as very expressive.

Plus you'd know where you stand; I find that more of a relief/more reassuring.

You don't really use much punctuation in your writing so if you do that with guys it makes it even less likely that they'll pick up on the possibility that you're interested.

If you spoke to me the way you do on the forum I’d automatically assume you probably weren’t interested. Then that’s how my mind works.
