A lot of women want to have them too but they are too shy or just don't know how to make it happen. Some dating coaches like RSD Luke and Michael Sartain base part of their game on getting a bisexual girlfriend and having regular threesomes.

That's super interesting, did you guys talk about it afterwards in depth? What came up for her in that moment? Seems common from what I've researched about polyamory. 

Common grievances with open relationships on the women's side is they underestimate the intensity of the emotions that come with it and the men regret open up a relationship because they can't get laid while their woman starts sleeping with other men left and right lol

We didn't just talk about it, it ruined eveyrthing.  For her that is.  She stopped talking to me for many years.  I recently started talking to her again an she told me she loved me but because of that, she had to break it off.   The moral of fthe story is I think if feelings are involved it can't work.

Psychoanalysis is a cool concept to bring into this. Unintegrated sexuality and shame always brings up quite a range of responses from people. I think that's fine, it's good to break relationships that are not based on alignment sooner rather than later. For someone to be a solid companion to us for many years they need to be self-aware enough to know what they want and have needs and desires that align with our own.
