@Karmadhi Its unfortunate to see the extreme actions of some people generalized to an entire society. At the same time, I understand this is painful and difficult for you.

Israel is not a viable entity on the long term. And especially now with US retreating from ME they will either bend or break.

I don't think so, but I do think that zionism and Netanyahu are bad for the country long-term.

Palestine is not viable. Israel will just take it all over. It is raw power.

You have to understand when you lost the war.

Palestine will not defeat Israel. And Israel will not grow a conscience anytime soon.

I hope no. Enough people here know that annexation is disastrous.

Palestinians understand that just fine, they accepted the occupation for decades, this is the result of Israel actively trying to destroy them.

Thats like telling prisoners of war who are getting executed they should understand it’s over. It’s not over until they’re dead.

Israel can only do this because of support from the US and Europe. Which is why it’s up to the public to stop their politicians from enabling it.

other redeeming qualities like a tech sector and democracy

Do those outweight desire for genocide and ethnic cleansing? To me a genocidal society becomes null regardless of how great other things may be like gdp or technology. Nazis were also pretty techonology advanced and organized. Yet they are seen as bad because they were genocidal.

You can't argue that Palestinians aren't super backwards developmentally

I feel you are too harsh on them. I have seen tons of interviews with them and many are reasonable. Especially in West Bank. Hartd to be chill when you lost half ur family in strikes like Gazans have. Given how much Palestinians have suffered they could have been a lot worse . Their issue is how stubborn they are more than anything. The religious part is mostly some Hamas nutcases, the majority are nationalists not religious zealots. If you see interviews about regular palestinians their motivation is about getting the land they lost back and justice, not global jihad.

ay what you will about Netanyahu, but he is no religious fanatic

Neither was Hitler of Stalin. Does not mean they were nice guys or guys you should befriend

Putin is also not a religious fanatic yet I see way more demonization of Putin then Bibi

When Trump tried to treat Putin with some resemblance of how he treats Bibi, everyone in USA lost their shit

I personally find Bibi's war crimes much worse than Putins

To be fair I have seen many polls in Israel where 80% or more support ethcnic cleansing or genocide

It is not "some people" it is the majority

@Karmadhi

Expelling isn't equal to "genocide", actually very far from it.

"untroubled" or an another form of apathi are too not even close to actively want to kill people.

Those emotions aren't surprising at all after 30 years of terror attacks and at the top of them Oct7.

I saw it

To be fair I was referring to something else

You see when some people including you talk about a civilized society, you mean things like LGBTQ, women in work spaces etc

At least the video was about that in a way that you sent

I am referring to something else

I am referring to the methods that they deal with who they perceive to be an enemy

A civilized society would not snipe kids nor use starvation as a method of warfare

A civilized society would not terrorize people to kick them out of their homes (West Bank)

A civilized society would worry when all human rights group say they are causing grave crimes against humanity

A civilized society does not use disproportionate force to deal with threats

A civilized society does not torture nor rape and debate this in parliament, whether rape is ok or not

A civilized society views the enemy as human just like them but with a different set of believes and views, it does not dehumanize them

This is what I am referring to

@Karmadhi Well ok you have a very idealized model of what a society should be. Maybe it says something about your values. I just think it is less realistic for Western societies these days. If you want to measure which society is more developed you have to put them under similar kind of threats. This is difficult to do. You also have to consider the proportions of people holding different views within each society, when some of the views you mentioned are more rare than the others.

Say what you will about Netanyahu, but he is no religious fanatic. He is a very rational, pragmatic guy. Atheists can relate to him.

During the last 6 years he became less rational over time and his actions became more driven by political survival because of his trial. That made him please every sector in his coalition to keep his government alive for as long as possible.
