It's also dependent on the lifestyle, I think. If one were to party all the time and spend time around pretty girls, they would be hornier than just sitting at home. It's hard to get horny reading Ralston's books, way easier when you are out. So it's a kind of self-perpetuating pattern of behaviour, I feel.

If I stop ejaculating for a day or two my energy returns, I can do more/feel better with less sleep, and I start looking at the girls around me again; their butts, their faces, their smell etc.
Arousal is also healthy, not paraphilic, when it stops being forced since fantasies are coping strategies with castration; that is to say in a sexual context wanting/needing to orgasm (do something in general) when you lack the energy.

 

There are reasons why the nervous system doesn't want to redirect energy towards sexuality; sexuality is a luxury. Like hair, teeth, skin, etc depending on your genetics, these things will deteriorate, stop growing or repair themselves in a poor energetic state.
