Youtube Channel and Content Recommendations?

30 posts in this topic

I really appreciate Joe Hudson's work (many youtube interviews with him floating around).

I note you expressed preference for nothing personal development related (this is slightly in that direction). His main body of work focuses on emotions - His central idea is that people are often blocked not by lack of intelligence or strategy, but by unprocessed emotions and avoidance. So feeling emotions fully rather than suppressing or controlling them. Seeing emotions as information rather than problems. Developing the capacity to stay present with discomfort , moving from fear-based behaviour into authentic action.

Some of his interviews with Chris Williamson really kicked me in the guts.

Embodiment and grounding is a huge arena for growth on these forums.

I make no assumptions about your current mastery - this is just what came to mind when thinking about you.

I place a lot of importance on YouTube and the type of content I consume. I believe we should thoroughly filter content as it influences our thoughts, which then grow to become identity. Let's choose our YouTube channels as consciously as we choose books 😁

Here's my list of truly amazing YouTube channels:

Business

Conscious sales: https://m.youtube.com/@joshlyons_sales

Alex Hormozi (he's so good he deserves to be mentioned again): https://m.youtube.com/@AlexHormozi

How to write well:

https://m.youtube.com/@DavidPerellChannel

Philosophy / spirituality

Metaphysics:

https://m.youtube.com/@ThirdEyeTyrone

Interviews on spiritual topics:

https://m.youtube.com/@NewThinkingAllowed

Self-improvement for men

Pickup

https://m.youtube.com/@ToddVDating

Social skills in general

https://m.youtube.com/@OwenCookFreeTour

Entertainment

History of human inventions: https://m.youtube.com/@Stephans_History_of_the_World

Visualization of how electronics work: https://m.youtube.com/@BranchEducation

I guarantee that all of the recommended channels have fresh insights rather than stale regurgitation of mainstream knowledge.

Btw, There was a great thread on YouTube channels recommendations here. Just look that up in the forum's search bar! I discovered a few gems this way

I have ran into this issue as well, it's almost like i became too intelligent for most of the content out there. Leo also set the bar pretty high.

These days i feel like we need less content. My phone and it's stupid apps are really more like a weighted chain than genuine entertainment, not to mention all the brainwashing, emotional stimulation and low key soft porn that is pumped through these algoryhtms. I almost want to go back to another time, a time of reading books, contemplating, journaling, creating. Not more consumption.

But if you do consume, I think it's better to just focus on one topic and find the best in the field and take their courses or read their books. I'm starting to find that bad advice is damaging and a lot of teachers simply don't reach a Tier 2/Integral level of work. I don't think YouTube videos hit very hard, unless it's like Leo's style of 3 hour videos but not many other creators do that, I'd almost rather re- listen to an old Actualized video than some dweeb who has no real grasp on what they are talking about, or just going in circles in a weak way.

I would rather re-read a Ralston or Wilber book than watch Huberman, Alex Hormozi or Mark Manson give shallow and boring advice.

Here are some quality teachers

Consciousness

Ralston

Wilber

Adyashanti

Sex/Tantra

David Deida

Alexey Welsch

Sexual Kung FU (Youtube)

Habits/Discipline

David Goggins

Jocko Wilink

I also find most movies and TV shows to be a waste of time and not very intelligent, creative, or entertaining. Unless they are really done well, like a good comedy or an artistic movie, but you have to shuffle through so much junk to find the truly inspiring and beautiful movies, esepecially these days.

It feels more satisfying these days to just contemplate, listen to music, be present with people, or try to understand reality deeper in silence...Oh sweet silence, sweet boredom.

be careful with podcasts too, they will slowly and subtly give you their mind virus and bias and some of them are not that wise and they just talk in circles like chris williamson, diary of a ceo, orion taraban, i think these are dangerous people to listen to too much

I agree with the above. The bro circle-jerk.

I find very little information regarding personal development that resonates.

I am, instead, delving into my own emotions and feelings and how I relate to them.

I cannot do this and listen to anything.

Reading books I very much still do, though :D

I recently watched his podcast with his younger daughter and it was beatiful. Some tears even dropped, when she mentioned that she can’t have that beautiful and authentic relationship with her friends.

BlessedLion is correct. I don’t consume much info anymore. I mostly just listen to music, dance and contemplate on my own.

🥰

Joe Hudson's stuff does something. I get this beautiful, heavy-but-light as a feather weight in my chest. Like I am opening up to receive and connect. It sounds so hokey but it is real heart connection.

I turned away from a lot of self help because the richness of data mining and harvesting my own, normal, unremarkable existence became a fascination I feel like I neglected for a long time. Everything was was always right here. Not off in the lands of explanation.

Nature. Biking, moving my body! The air in my lungs... The change in sounds as dusk approaches... Man just moving the body and feeling it all is the best sensation!!!!

Wherever I am - there is actually no where else I would rather be. I accept all moments ❤️
