Good question. I had to let go of my will do live. Face death and accept it. I also had to accept that I'm everyone, even the ones I'm inclined to dislike.

My sense of self has not completely dissolved. Like mentioned earlier it's more like a harmony between self and no self. It barely fluctuates throughout the day. I think my state of ego identification is elaborated upon with the other answers.

It seems to me you may have experienced an awakening and that there is more to go for enlightenment. How long was this entire process? Do you meditate at all? Regularly?
