@Mellowmarsh  I saw your 'name' in the Solipsism thread - Mogofeternalstench :D

I think I'm going to stick with Mellowmarsh, easier to pronounce

Yeah I wonder if there's something strange going on with the brain during cessations

The”strange“ is the mystery that the sense of being can only sit with. It doesn’t even require an explanation or answer because there isn’t an answer to find in what is ultimately this vast open space of pure beingness.

But can you really say you consciously decided to have the thought ?

I say there is just two actionable thoughts: acceptance and resistance. And you choose according to your state.

You have a wonderful way of erasing questions from the mind, thanks:)

Aren't those two, acceptance and resistance, more like energetic contraction or expansion/relaxation in the body, rather than thoughts per say

It's absolutely impossible, because "stop" is not happening, and happening is a possibility, then the break 'no happening " doesn't happen, always is happening , because "not happening " is never.

That which appears to happen, never happens.

Because happening is never “not happening”

I love the ease of which you are able to understand what’s being spoken through this particular mouthpiece here. 😀

That's just an opinion, I don't believe that i have the absolute truth about how reality works.

What you are is a process shaped by evolution, involving the creation of a predictive model that integrates variables to find the most optimal solution. This process is constantly deciding which alternative to take; it is the evolutionary nature of life, which functions by seeking the optimal solution for self-preservation.

So yes, you, the reality in the form of a self-preserved, stable process interconnected with its environment and governed by psychological structures created through evolution, is constantly choosing among variables.

The conscious mind is only the tip of the iceberg; what we call the self and identify with "me" is also constantly choosing among possible variables, seeking the optimal one based on the available information. The margin of decision is narrow but in every choice it's uncertainty. Reality is always choosing among possibilities. Imo nothing can be determined because it would be a closure.

What means imaginary? That I'm imagining it now?

Where is it?  What is the force? It is very dependent on the laws of physics which you have carefully crafted.  So when you ingest caffeine, for example, you feel energized.  Invisible forces exist all around you but notice that force is something no different from a thought.   If you were to stop imagining force it wouldn't be there anymore.

If there are a whole bunch of processes happening in the background over which you have no conscious control, and neither can you say that you are consciously deciding for the mind, can you see that perhaps the sense of the 'controller' might be an illusion, made up of a confluence of the senses, thoughts, emotions etc

There is some decision and control. The self is a process made for prediction and decision. It's conditioned by layers and layers of written code, but ultimately there is not absolute certainly of which election it will do between two possiblities

Could "it" just be Life itself.

Knowledge.

Which can only point to the illusory nature of reality.

Ultimately, reality / existence is not-knowing . Or, non-dual.

Yes. Indeed everything is thought. The thinks begets the things. Most thoughts are seemingly nothing to do with me - save one. Accepting or resisting. If I accept I expand into what is. If I resist I seemingly contract and apparently suffer. Accepting is aligning with the absolute. It proclaims, God's Will be done.

Sure, but that's what we are. The self is life in the form of a self. What we are is the reality happening, there is not "you" and "reality", are the same thing, that's obvious right? The point is being the reality in the form of a self being able to "know" what you as the reality ultimately are.

You know that you are right? Then you can know what you are. The way is being it leaving the form behind for a while, placing yourself in a mental level where there are not differences. Not denying the reality of that differences just placing yourself in another mental level where there are not barriers. Then the nature of what reality is is revealed.

You are not imagining those laws, they are real, are the equation that rules this universe, they doesn't depends of your imagination
