Liberalism is definitely very beneficial for the flexibility of thought (not wokiesm though, there is a difference I think), there is something to be said about how most of the paradigm changing inventions came from the liberal places of the Planet, you can't just ignore that. However, chinese ingenuity and ability to scale within these existing technologies is genuinely very impressive; they also do make their own inventions within these paradigm shifting inventions, like for example they did not came up with the quantum computers/technology, but were able to invent quantum communications satelite. And what about the way they mantain high level of competitiveness of Deepseek, despite the fact that it's open source and the developers only have a fraction of resources US companies have available?

This is a complex issue that involves dozens of factors. I mentioned one factor out of dozens.

China and Japan are liberal relative to Afghanistan.

Notice that the more developed these nations get, the more they liberalize. In 100 years China will be very liberal. China is conservative because most of its people lived in poverty until very recently. That will not last long.
