Women tend to be gunning for the men that they look up to, that they respect and admire.

But in the end of the day when you're actually dating that guy you respect and admire all that disappears.

I don't know about others but I also looked up and respected the shit out of woman I dated - at least seriously. I do the same with my friends. But I would not call it hypergamy really.

You could be interpreting some foreign meaning from Starax's comment. I am talking about higher consciousness women or mature woman. Hypergamy word use is almost a heuristic for me to tell that one has encountered toxic red pill shit in their social media.

Hypergamy is often used derisively to shame women but I think it's a healthy drive. Like I said without women with high standards we'd still be living in caves or in a big field.

It's not a red pill concept originally it's documented science in terms of evolutionary psychology. Women tend to like men that earn more than them or at the same point at them. Men tend to mate across and down. These are statistical trends not true for everyone. 

@Valach I agree I think frame control is a useful concept to understand so people don't use it on you in unhelpful ways. In general having collaborative frame is the way to go or I like to think the win-win mindset.

@LordFall it's my personal red flag along with a while bunch of other terms. You're free to disagree with it as a heuristic. I don't care where the term came from because language is descriptive, and not as often prescriptive. Context always matters - that's the other tell I use.

I think it's totally fine to have your own boundaries wherever you want but linking the concept to red pill negativity is just not true. Academics use it all the time. There's a few good books on it that help deconstruct the concept. The Red Queen by Matt Ridley on Leo's book list talks about hypergamy extensively for example. There's assortative mating that's basically looksmatching and dual-mating strategy as well. A lot of these terms are used in the red pill but they are just observed phenomenons by researchers over time.

No, thanks. I don't require advice on learning hypergamy as a concept. I am not calling hypergamy as a concept up for debate. I am critiquing who is using it, and how it is being used as indicators. You might need to re-read what I wrote because you have made some foreign meaning from my words - or I was not clear.
