In Musk's case, have rich parents, connections and willingness to be a front for the pentagon / military industrial complex. In my opinion.

They don't have to become a zillionaire, just manage their situation according to the extent of their abilities. They don't have to win, they can just stop losing - that's what I meant. Almost everyone has enough bootstraps to stop losing

Elon Musk made history as the first person to become a trillionaire. Forbes tracked him at $1.1 trillion on 13 June 2026, all thanks to SpaceX’s record breaking IPO.

But what lifts your wealth fast can bring it down just as quickly. That is the price of volatility.

SpaceX closed at $201.80 on 16 June 2026. It has since tumbled 43% to $115.07, which also puts it 15% below its IPO offer price of $135. A round trip and then some, in a matter of weeks.

It wasn’t just SpaceX. Tesla fell hard after earnings and is now down 29% year to date. The culprit was negative free cash flow of $1.09 billion in Q2 2026, as Tesla spends big on AI, on top of robotaxi and Optimus. Investors have turned sensitive towards heavy capex spenders, and Tesla has just joined that group. The selling is consistent with how the market is treating everyone else in that camp.



With both stocks sliding, Musk has lost his trillionaire status. Over $300 billion gone in about a month.
