Is walking down the street more dangerous for men or for women?

It's common to hear how dangerous it is for women to walk down the street but apparently it's far more dangerous to walk down the street for men! What a mind fuck

It's definitely about the perception of safety and fear for women. Being inherently weaker (despite the insistence of some).

Men face more violence.

This is nuanced, I suspect a lot of the stats here are skewed by things like gang activity, which your average man does not really need to worry about just walking down the street.

An average woman is probably more likely to be attacked/injured/assaulted/harassed by random men on the street just because she is a woman. Your average man has probably rarely or never been bothered by a stranger on the street, while the average woman has somewhat frequently.

This is why women fear walking down the street on their own more.

Think about walking through a crowded PvP zone with high defense/HP vs a relatively vacant PvP zone with low defense/HP. What feels the scariest?

The women are afraid of public spaces and think random men are the problem, but the fact they are more at risk for abuse by their partners shows that the bigger problem is actually her poor intuition about men and what kind of men she is attracted to. Hmmm. Almost like she is a danger to herself, not the men

If you get attacked by some weirdo in the street there's almost nothing you can do.

But the statistics are talking about the instances when the abuse etc actually happens, so how is what you’re saying relevant

I've been going through another awakening lately that was triggered by my 30 day challenge and I noticed that men basically always react to eachother on the street. If you walk confidently you will notice that you will either puff up more or shrink down/move out of the day depending on which guy you see on the street and how much of threat you peg him at. I first noticed it years ago while taking shrooms at a club but humans are basically screaming at eachother 24/7 through body language, it's quite mesmerizing once you tune into it. So really the odd that you trigger another dude especially if you make eye contact and don't back down is quite high, much more that said random dude would go to the point of harassing/assaulting a woman. 

Robert Greene talks extensively about body language in the 3r chapter of the laws of human nature, highly recommend that book.

I'd like to suggest if you don't mind that the harmful misconception about your statement (although correct it a way) is that men can't and don't feel weak too.  Many men feel and are just as weak women. Yet society discourages men from admitting it and thus the shame around feeling weak manifests in further harmful ways.

I value your opinion, and you as a person, and appreciate your reply. It's a pleasure chatting with great people like you in this forum. 

I'd counter your claim if you don't mind.  Your suspicions are incorrect I'm afraid. The data shows it's more dangerous for a random man to walk down the street than it is for a women. Yes women may be harassed more but it's less dangerous and are less likely to be killed or attacked. There's an instinct to protect women (and children). Women's and children first after all.

For sure, my statement was about how perception influences how we view the reality of the situation. I didn't state men cannot feel weak or just as unsafe. Merely that it is more commonly a preoccupation women have (and are especially vocal about, becuase it is acceptable. Less acceptable for men to express) 💪
