Anyone here use safety razors?

Recently jumped on the safety razor bandwagon because I've heard it gives a closer shave and is cheaper. Been using for about a week or so, and I have to honestly say I'm kinda disappointed.

It doesn't really shave any closer, but is way harder to use and takes much longer while my skin is more irritated and getting nicked. It's also much harder to shave my balls with. And in my case isn't particularly much cheaper. I have very little facial hair and I've been reusing disposable razors without issue my entire life. A Bic pack can last me about half a year easily. I've spent more on buying a safety razor than I've done on disposable blades in years. If I have to spend even more on high quality lather to make it work then I'm definitely not saving much money. 

They are supposedly good for shaving legs with though. Ladies?

I use one - the drawback is you have to be very careful regarding angle, speed & you have to do multiple passes.

The cheaper cost, and less wastage, comes at the cost of speed imo - a cheap bic razor or gillette turbochad razor is essentially providing a strip of lubricant and multiple blade passes at once (depending on 2, 3 or 4 blades in one).

Fuck man you use it on your face? FUCK. That's so many angles to pass over. I would slice the shit out of myself. I already have trouble not dicing up my achillies due to the angles on the lower part of the leg.

I have to be much more focused, mindful and attentive with the safety razor.

What else would I be using it for? Besides my balls 😂

It's the tip of the chin and mustache that are troublesome. I find it bulky and hard to reach around the nooks of the nose.

Yep thats what I would imagine would be the challenge.

I didn't find safeties noticeably superior. Mostly just slow.

I almost never use razors or safety razors. This is the best thing I found, for minimum skin irritation. It's a cutting machine but that gets really close to the point of almost matching a razor. Faster and easier to use than any razor, so you can use it more often, and in the end your average beard length will be the same or smaller =)

I shave (my face) completely by feel in the shower. The trick is to feel the direction of the hairs and pull the skin slightly in that direction, then pull the razor over it in a smooth quick motion over it. The shower keeps things moist. Worst bits are around my nostrils and corners of my mouth and Adam's apple, but short gentle strokes does it. If you want a proper close shave, then use a mirror and shave the hairs three times in three directions - lather again each time - takes forever though.

Ain't nothing sharp or chemical going near my man parts, they are as nature intended - you youngsters.
