Why do we even exist

11 posts in this topic

Answer me that question and I'll stop posting drunk shit on this forum.

But we're here.

And no one really asks WHY?

BUT ALSO "WHY" IS A POINTLESS QUESTION

BECAUSE IT LOOKS FOR MEANING.

BUT THE NIHILISTS ARE WRONG BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PROVE THERE'S NO MEANING.

THERE'S MEANING IN EVERYTHING.

BUT WHAT IS THE "MEANING" OF "MEANING"

WHO GIVES A FUCK???

HAVE A BEER!

FORGET ABOUT IT!!!

I watched a video recently about the ,matrix and what the agent and neo represent.

The agent is a man with no purpose he walks around asking why why. He is immortal like Neo but he sees no purpose and constantly wonders why am I doing this. This is pointless I have taken over everyone and nothing has changed I still have no purpose. He sees Neo fighting for humanity and getting hurt.

He ask Neo why he does it and Neo simply says because I choose to.

The process initially had nothing to do with us until it seemingly did.

No one or thing to blame 🤷

I think it’s actually a fairly simple question to contemplate.

“Why” is an abstraction created by the human mind. I don’t see..hear..or directly experience any inherent “why” in the present moment in the same way I can see my laptop sitting in front of me. There is simply a laptop without a “why.”

Animals have no idea what we’re talking about when we ask these kinds of questions. If by “why” you mean what caused our existence..then that’s something science and philosophy can attempt to investigate. But if you mean our ultimate purpose or destiny…then that becomes entirely subjective a construction of the human mind once again .

In your own contemplation when you asked “What’s the meaning of meaning?” you already exposed the problem.it’s ultimately a linguistic game or a conceptual house of cards. Meaning does not appear to be something inherently built into reality itself.

If you want a positive answer..then perhaps the only purpose of life is to enjoy it..experience it..and live it fully. But if you want the most brutally honest answer then there is probably no objective purpose at all.

Maybe it's odd that you exist... because you don't?

The answer is simple and for most utterly unsatisfying.   Because of that, knowing the answer doesn't end the corresponding inner turmoil.

Question:  "Why do we even exist?"
Answer:  "Because Infinity is incomplete without us."

Why is always casting backwards, looking into the past, reliving it, completing the narrative with "could-be-events".  It can be useful, but many abuse this type of cognition, like a drug

I don't mean to be contrarian, but, when I read this, I couldn't help the many "what-abouts" bubbling up in my mind.

There's different types of meaning, isn't there?  There's the type of meaning which is best understood as an inner-experience, a construction of the human mind.  But, there's also the meaning of outer-manifestations, which are almost universal.  Simple, Concrete, down-to-earth meaning?  The "handle for the axe", for example.  The cavity in the piston.  The hanger for the jacket.  Dovetail joints.  Etc.

While, these concrete "meanings", if you'll permit its usage here, seem trivial, what if they're not?

I provided an answer to this very question lastnight but it looks like the thread was deleted for no good reason.  Not a good look.  Not the first time either.  I wonder why that is.

Anyhoo, Hojo has your answer.

@Ziran I don’t understand your question. Sounds like first world problems though .
