Leo on pedophiles and mental illness.

Leo is posting quite a lot on pedophilia and mental illness as well as psychopathy. However i would like to see Leo taking more non conformist takes on these issues. His latest posts is like pedophiles are bad, mentally ill people are bad, psychopaths are bad. Which can be true from the survival perspective of most people. But what about God's perspective ? isn't God a psychopath, a pedophile and a mentally ill ? How about we understand these people's subjective experiences, instead of just putting a label on them and dismissing their perspective as evil or dangerous. 

Okay now i'm gonna be Leo for a moment and tell you what i expect from him: 

Pedophilia, psychopathy and mental illness: such controversial and dark topics, yet they need to be understood deeply.The key insight is everyone is prone to being a pedophile, a psychopath, or a mentally ill person. Those are for the most part patterns within the experience of humans, that keep repeating for ages. And the solution will never be to just make a shadow out of them by calling them evil. But to integrate them as part of yourself as God. Understand their perspective fully and empathize with them. Pedophiles are just people who are attracted to minors, imagine yourself waking up one day having had the dream of having had a sexual affair with a child. That's the reality of pedophilia. It is to large degree not under one's control. 

Same with psychopathy, imagine you were born not feeling empathy for others, not knowing what it is like to be empathetic. It is such a radically different reality than most people experience, yet it is real and has always existed as a pattern within humanity. 

Imagine your mind, is such that you cannot control your emotions and behavior, it is just outside of your control. That's the reality of mental illness. 

Empathy is key. Labeling people as evil is too easy. Understanding them is the hard part, is you were lucky enough to be considered "normal". 

I also want to see from Leo more of a deconstruction of sexuality and madness, sort of what Michel Foucault has done in his books, the history of sexuality, as well as the history of madness.

He did not say pedophiles or whomever are "bad". Bad relative to having a healthy society maybe. From God's perspective they just ARE, they are not in a specific way. He even says everyone and everything is Good, everything is Love.

I agree, Leo seems hellbent on The Truth™ lately. But Truth is beyond any human concepts and Truth without Love isn't true.

Maybe this has something to do with the US collective consciousness. They're going through some dark times right now.

Then again, we all are in some way.

i'm actually with Leo on his take about the danger of mentally ill people, especially narcissists. They do so much damage to society, especially to the people who are closest to them, and they are not aware of it at all. If I was in charge of a country, I think I would actually try to identify narcissists and put them in psychiatric clinics involuntarily in order to help them.

You might now scream that this would be anti-freedom. But the problem that I would be addressing is that a shit ton, if not most of the people who are currently in psychiatric clinics, arrived there as a result of the abuse from narcissists or other cluster B disorders. I would honestly prefer to live in a less free world where this unfair imbalance does not exist. also, since the root of the problem would be addressed, the problem would actually become less severe in the long-term. The problem with the current system is that it just allows for narcissist to run free and ruin everybody's lives.

Many people collapse compassion and tolerance onto one thing. But laying down a boundary with someone who has mental health issues is the most honest form of compassion there is. 

It is not a lack of empathy.

Compassion : how you see them. 

Boundaries : how you protect yourself.

Easy to confuse healthy boundaries and compassion with judgement and rejection. If you make this mistake it points to unhealthy boundaries within you. 

Leo isn't judging or rejecting those with mental health issues.

I believe it's a normal part of our genetic makeup to want to breed at the onset of puberty, as basically all mammal species do, and it's cultural mores that have made taboo engaging in sex with someone under the age of 18 .  What's more unnatural is 40+ year old women breeding, but then again when in Rome... obey the laws in the area which you live.  

That said this don't really have a place in modern society, where we have a "childhood" which is not something that really exited to any large degree prior to 1900.  However, clearly the urges are there given how many men partake. It's not something to be dismissed as "mental illness" or something isolated in my opinion. 

Then you look at the behavior of our closest relation genetic ancestor the bonobo.. bottom line human morality is relative, and changes with the times.   Teenage birth rate peaked in 1960 in the United States. How many of the boomer celebrities had girlfriends that were quite young, such as Elvis... 

"Priscilla Presley was 14 years old when she first met and began a relationship with 24-year-old Elvis Presley in West Germany in 1959. She moved to Graceland at 17, and they were married when she was 21."
