Yes it is . "The truth shall set you free" instead of making you more attached to egoic tendencies . Truth is not about adding relative or conceptual knowledge to yourself..nothing wrong with that but that's just the opposite of enlightenment .

The truth we are seeking is remembering our unconditioned state which is prior to our birth in these bodies . Because we are conditioned right now by being a body and a mind living in a world of lack and responsibilities and problems. All these things don't please or entertain anyone on this earth.  Because it doesn't resonate with our unconditional self which is free of everything. And you won't find true fulfilment without remembering who you really are. By seeking more conditioned knowledge you are actually deepening your conditioning and bondage instead of breaking free.

"When you get very serious about truth you accept your life situation exactly as it is. So much so that you aren't childishly sitting around wishing it were otherwise. If you were confined to a wheelchair you would just accept it as how reality is. Just as you now just accept that you are not a bird who can fly."

Question:  "Is it problematic to resort to ego to eliminate itself?"

Answer:  "Remember Icarus? YMMV"

You will realize you didn't actually want the truth and it will scare you to your deepest core.

Ego is one untrue thought - that goes on to conjure up a seemingly mighty universe. It can't and won't help you. Its job is survival and to keep you here. First step is, I am not ego. I chose ego and I choose ego. I don't have to though. I can choose God. Ask yourself, what is an obvious ego thought. What is its the obvious God equivalent. Hang with the latter and where is ego now?

That's a big mistake. If that's your motivation, you'll convince yourself you're enlightened after consuming spiritual content, neo-advaita, god realization, anything, and you'll go through life proclaiming yourself "awakened," being the typical sad spiritual enlightened unbearable. Be careful.

But who has completely broken free?  You still present in a finite form, no?  That thought of "completely breaking free" might be conceptual knowledge as you describe.  Maybe enlightenment is different from that idea.

You "completely break free " every night when you enter into deep sleep..at least temporarily.  Deep sleep gives you a glimpse or a little taste of absolute freedom and obviously of formlessness and unconditional self.

Yes ..right now I am a finite human being apparently. But I've had many glimpses in the past that being a limited form like that of a human is not the ultimate nature of myself ..and I'm sure you too have had.

It's completely normal.

Being problematic or not is just perspective.

It can be recognized that this needy egoic structure that wants this knowledge is completely illusory though.

But its not ego that recognizes it and eliminates itself, it's nothingness 😳

Ego/self illusion, would never destroy itself. It wants to reap all the benefits of everything including enlightenment.

I've had this discussion for years.  Case in point the no self ego or the no separate self ego.

Haha yup,

I use, self/ego/no self/self illusion/sense of self/separate self/self construct, all interchangeably.

I feel like Truth is not about needing to know more than anyone.  It's a spiritual groundedness that makes Love (and furthermore Beauty) possible because you're not insecure spiritually.  Truth is a spiritual pillar.  Knowing more than anyone butts up against Love, which is not full integration of Love.

@Ananda This

And those other people you want to know more than don't want it either and won't understand any explanation of it you come up with. They will stick to their guns, which is their conception of what must be true.
