Counterargument to Leo’s latest post.

8 posts in this topic

First of all, I want to clarify that I don’t consider myself either LGBT or anti-LGBT. I don’t really have a stake in it. I just find parts of the LGBT movement quite cringe lately, especially because of what I see as manipulative tactics. I understand that being part of a minority can be difficult, but in my view that doesn’t justify everything that’s sometimes done in the name of the community.

That said, I wanted to mention a series I watched which, for me, is the best show I’ve seen in a long time. In it, the main character comes across as non-binary or at least that’s how I personally interpreted her and she’s one of the coolest characters I’ve seen in years. If you haven’t watched the show, I highly recommend it:

There are also good examples in Arcane, which is objectively a strong series. Season 1 was great, though I agree that season 2 was disappointing for me, possibly in part because the LGBT messaging felt over-emphasized. Still, the characters themselves are well written. I’m thinking especially of Vi, Jinx’s sister, who is lesbian; Jinx, a chaotic and unstable character; and Ekko, who is probably the closest thing the show has to a traditional hero.

I don’t see any counterarguments to Leo’s post here…

Call it what you like, just examples of well-written shows.

Yeah, now I get what you mean. Someone mentioned the episode of The last of us with the gay couple in another thread. That too is a great example.

Concord has to be the biggest failure in diversity in marketing. This shit costs 400 million and was canned within a month of released. Leo's point about these expensive diverse products feeling like scams is so on point.

Just look at these characters. They lame as hell. Who wants to fuck gay lesbian marshmallow supreme? Two things are true; sex sells and bad diversity bankrupts.
