Eh, in short it just has to do with the meaning behind all of it. The only genuinely fun activity for me would be boxing sparring; so of course as fate would have it, it also has to be damaging to ones health as a consequence. I wouldn't find light sparring fun either it's got to be an all out boxing match lmfao. Just cause of competition aspect. But it's stupid and untenable. Running, lifting etc. just feel like a chore cause I don't subscribe to this whole suze maximization of ones bodily "meat", if I may put it that way; neither am I too enthusiastic about maxing out my VO2 MAX, nevertheless those are no proper excuses to not lift or run, it's just that if I decide to hop in that train I would view it as teeth flossing, taking a shower or something like that; just something to get out of the way LOL

I'd suspect that it's just yet again about one of those cases where reality doesn't really meet expectations; you sacrifice your time, effort and money to build a physique which ends up being hardly actually usefull in ways you'd want it to be, and then you have to keep eating the high amount of calories just to mantain it; same principle applies to other activities mentioned. Although I am probably being negligent about the mental upsides so maybe not a good idea to get discouraged

The rec center is owned by the state of Texas/Trump.

After the rec center manager denied me, I sent an email to our city manager and advocated for the rights of disabled individuals, and for myself. I am still waiting for their responses.

I am a law-abiding citizen, even if I disagree with it. Texas still doesn’t believe that trans women exist in society legally, so I have to mask as a man in certain contexts as a survival measure.

I was curious how bad the new laws against me were, so I inquired to the rec center about my rights and where I am able to go. They denied me access to the women’s spaces, as I predicted.

There is an exemption to the new law, however, that allows me to go into women’s spaces as long as I am accommodating a person, such as an autistic or disabled individual  (in this case @Beans).

And  yet they still denied  me.

Now I am serious. I do not plan on joining the rec center, but I do care about standing up for my rights as a human being, and protecting the rights of other disabled individuals from discrimination, hence why I didn’t just silently walk away from abuse and discrimination.

This is my way of resistance training. New me, and I ain’t fucking around.  😼

it can go both ways. for some people, excessively exercising can be a dysfunctional behaviour when trying to regulate themselves. that being said, for most people, it isn't, and most of us would benefit from exercising more. in that case, exercise is also nice because it offers both more immediate and long-term benefits for emotional regulation: it can be implemented as a routine for general stability, and as a spontaneous skill in moments of crisis (running around the block, doing a few squats, running up and down the stairs to deal with an immediate emotional trigger or stressful situation).

You're framing sports as a fun/entertainment pursuit. This is not my intention. You do sports to feel the whole spectrum of emotions and you do not resist them, you feel them as they are.

Sports will push you to feel your whole body as it is. You can't close your mind to feeling when you are running as an example. Sports is a doorway to develop new ways to access your body mind systems.

I play football (soccer) 3-4 times a week, and dance multiple hours a week.

I couldnt agree more. Not only as a way to regulate my emotions and to stay healthty, but man it gives me so much joy.

Had a private chat with our city manager. She is letting us in, legally.

She happens to also be our first female city manager in San Marcos.

Wow.

@Yimpa on the one hand I'm very happy for you on another I wouldn't even want to go at that point I'd feel so cringe . Just being a somewhat more feminine straight male makes me feel so cringe .

Advocaring for myself in general feels cringe but against active opposition would feel catastrophic.
