Humanity will soon become superhuman, thoughts?

Tell me the downsides to transhumanism? Ethics etc

Lets stick to the topic being argued, not each others person, hey? I made a statement about the topic, you made a statement about me being open minded.

I make no statement about technology being bad, or pushing humanity intellectually. Or spiritually. It is not transhumanism per se I have issues with, as much as it is hype, eugenics, ethics and the corruption behind some avenues of it IE chip in brain.

And to be clear, my opinion is not a reflection of the moderators, Leo, or Actualized.org. It is an ethical and moral one of my own. I am not about to shut down dialogue, I like open discussion. But I will admit sometimes it is more a comment on the difficulty moderating such topics; some topics are naturally more catalytic.

Transhumanism is garbage

I'm sorry I'm gonna have to hold you to a stronger intellectual standard than this. If you'd like to engage in meaningful discussion on the future of humanity and you have some concerns on the ethical implementations of transhumanism and biotech you should give a more credible argument than "transhumanism is garbage."

Any technology can be implemented in ethical or non ethical ways. That's mostly a discussion on legislation and politics at that point.

@AerisVahnEphelia I don't think you've thought about this fully. Neuralink is not just software, it's hardware as well. It fundamentally increases the computing ability of the human brain. That increased cognitive matter(think of it as adding another massive cortex to our brain similar to how humans differ from animals due to our neocortex.)

That added computational ability will both be used in our world as well as the virtual world.

Humans augmented with a brain chip, while still relying on biological hardware, will never be able to compete with a purely digital base layer agent in certain domains we currently define as “profitable.”

Yes this will obviously mark the end of capitalism as we know it which is part of my point in this post talking about the difference between base humans and superhumans. There will be a need for AI ubi to take form otherwise most humans will become unemployable forever.

Elon musks talks about this himself. He's a big advocate for post scarcity. He even talks about a full post scarcity where the economic difference between AI enhanced elite billionaire entrepreneurs and a random fisherman is negligible due to humanity spreading throughout the universe and basically becoming a Karsadhev type 3 civilization.

Hype is an unserious waste of time.

I'm getting really tired of arguing feelings on this forum. If you want to discuss specific timelines for specific innovations I'd be happy to. If you just want to express your feelings on how complicated this sounds and how little you understand it then I encourage you to talk to an AI model about it so you don't waste our somehow infinite but still precious human time.

I would bet a lot of money that everyone discussing neuralink and elon musk on this forum haven't watched 30 mins of his 9 hour FREE neuralink video on youtube where he brings not only himself but Matthew MacDougall (head neuro surgeon at Neuralink) and Bliss Chapman(brain interface lead) on to talk about the project IN DEPTH.

That is my opinion, not an argument  - and since you chose to condescend here:

Watch the radical open mindedness video again. For people supposed to push the boundaries of what's possible for humans intellectually, spiritually and otherwise you guys are very close minded.

Which I raised earlier, I have not actually engaged you with your question, or attempted to answer it. This may have been missed. I do not have to engage in explaining why - you may ask of course - but I may just choose not answer.

If you want to engage properly, you will need to define transhumanism. And present your arguments against it. Not for.

I am not really interested in engaging with you regardless - as you are quite condescending to members on this forum when your ideas, opinions/beliefs are challenged. This is not an isolated incident either. I have witnessed you do this numerous times. Thought attachment.

I think you have some good views and things to say.

I just do not like your condescension.

You should seriously study the history of unintended-consequences of tech and the incentive-landscape in which this technology gets developed and it will become pretty hard to still hold this view.

I don't take hype seriously because it is largely unsubstantiated speculation and corrupted by a need to garner investments.

I'll believe when I see it bruv.

With technology like Neuralink that will raise our IQ to 200+ as well as biotech that will let us improve our bodies and become biologically immortal.

i am not aware of technologies of that type, is it imagination ?or real thing being developed ?
(never mind my comment i just saw your video)

They should make AI and tech hype against the rules here.

I think perhaps a good place to bring back this discussion is tangible steps instead of this whole scary transhumanism and humans fusing with AI, let's just think about what exponential technology means.

If we can hope to have our technological progress go exponential over the next few decades instead of linear, massive milestones for humanity like cancer become not pipedreams but inevitabilities.

Eventually major breakthroughs like this will happen and after cancer will come heart disease and neural degeneration and yes I do think eventually some form of uploading your consciousness to the cloud. If we accept that consciousness is immortal and infinite due to nonduality then I don't see why it wouldn't make sense for humanity to be able to bring it further than the short 80 years that end up biological collapse that all of us have been forced to take part in our human experience since the dawn of time.

No, it won’t. It’s not.

We already can’t keep up with a computer without being biologically reduced, depression and loss of function due to the hyper-stream of data.

You would have to modify your brain biologically.

It’s like looking for something that could heal all drug use. Drugs destroy your body for years, rewiring your neural pathways.

Literally, Neuralink is hype and stupid like so many things Elon does, and equally people who entertain brain uploading, even worst, they are not debatable. They must be slapped awake, because the stupidity of even entertaining these thoughts is dangerous.

There are some absolutes in life. One of them is that you cannot track the thing that is you and upload it into a machine.

As for the biological part, even if it “worked”, it would again be the same thing: biological upgrading of your brain to accept the enhancement of the chip.

Which, right now, we are decades away from, if not never.
