Unpopular opinion - I don't get the christmas hype

14 posts in this topic

I don't celebrate christmas, like at all. And I don't even get it what it means if someone wishes me Merry Christmas. It is very strange to me. I don't even get what might be enjoyable about it, it only seems like a bunch of to-do tasks. Do more people like this exist?

When someone says Mery Christmas to me, and I reply that I don't celebrate that, they often get offended or sometimes sorry for me.

I used to though when I was a child. I guess I was brainwashed but since then I don't get it, and what surprises me the most is lack of such people.

Do you say happy new year?

@Salvijus actually not, when I think about it

Do you celebrate anything at all? If you say no, then I will also begin feeling sorry for you, lol.

Besides Joseph put it really well, it gives people an opportunity to come together and bond. It's beautiful. There's great power in doing something collectively rather than individually. If the whole world was to come together and hold hands at least for 1min, that one minute would be the single most profound and transformational thing that has happened in human history.

@Salvijus what I wrote doesn't apply for new year wishes, it was only about Christmas. Wondering if there are more people like that. So I won't go into whether I celebrate anything else to keep it not confusing

Well I'm glad then there's at least something that you celebrate in life. Good for you.

Yes, the Grinch.

@Hello1 I am also like that! I never celebrate Christmas, or Easter or anything related to Christianity. I abhor Christianity. I don't care about what other people do or about their rituals. I like to celebrate my birthday as a way to thank the earth for allowing me to have lived another year.

I also celebrate my girlfriend's birthday as a sign of respect and care for her, I bring her flowers and gifts and a big birthday cake.

I also celebrate Halloween for 2 reasons, one is that this pisses all my Christian neighbours, I am the only atheist in my village, and I love to hear their lamentations and hate towards me for being different, and the second reason is because I like to say a thank you to the earth for allowing me to grow food in my garden, it is like a Thanksgiving for me the Halloween holiday, and because I love pumpkins.

But Christmas or Easter I don't celebrate because these holidays are just motives to extract as much money from me as possible.

@Daniel Balan  nice, thanks for reply, interesting. It's a bit different than me, I don't have a specific reason, I'm just indifferent

I feel a weird sensation when people say merry xmas too, i guess our intuition senses something "off" here, but I usually just say thank you :) Enjoy your winter solstice. Its a time people pretend they are happy and buy material things to in attempt to show their love to one another and gather and around with the family and put on all their masks and further suppress with dense foods and alcohol. its very 'satanic' and far from Christs original teachings I have read. He actually spoke against all these things.

I see through it all, i rather enjoy some mushrooms by the fire with some friends who celebrate life in a different way. I am actually often called to do the opposite during christmas, while everyone over indulges i tend to go into solitude, into fasting, or camping in the forest, going deep into a state of unification without all the falsities of everyone else. I feel its very shamanic and intuitive, still figuring it all out, but ever since i was young, i rebelled against most of these events, because i intuitively always sensed a deep off-ness to them.

Many argue most of these events are modern satanic rituals so far twisted from the original and ancient ways and what this times actually meant. Almost every modern holiday, Halloween, Easter, ect... all have some dark twisted story behind them, that is quite obvious to see for me.

You can watch plenty of videos on youtube going into the depth of the dark history of christmas.

My 1st eye has always been wide open, sometimes too open :P

Christmas is a time to connect with family and it's exciting for the kids.

The culture tends to overhype it and make you feel pressured to do a bunch of stuff. Do no more than you feel like. I only bought a giant cookie each for my family members.

It's perfectly fine to not be into it though. It can make people feel lonely in a counter-productive way.

The more days there are celebrated, the merrier as far as I'm concerned, medieval people had a clear edge over us especially in this department, them MFs had rest days for like half a year

I celebrate every single day and don't celebrate the "holidays" when everyone else's does. I've always been this way ever since i was a kid, i was drawn to counter the masses. And its not that I even do it on purpose, my nature simply aligns that way, its really funny. I threaten everyone by being me. Well i don't celebrate them how everyone else does, i simply call it another day, to be more accurate. All days are similar too me and i think this is why i live on another level than most people.

It's not possible for every single to day to be worthy of celebration by definition, since each individual day would be the same therefore nothing would be special about it therefore not worthy of a celebration, I know 🧘‍♂️wookies™ are looking at this differently but I'm more about that common sense type shiet
