i've watched Leo's YouTube series on Spiral Dynamics several times in the past few years and was wondering if i'd still get value from reading the book at this point? maybe someone who has read it could let me know:)

It is useful to get a perspective on it other than mine. But the book is quite limited.

@Leo Gurado you think my stage orange dad would resonate with it?:ph34r: he's a physicist and i've tried talking to him about mystical interpretations of scientific theory, but he shut down. i wonder if spiral dynamics would open his mind or if he'd dismiss it.

@Judy2 Hard to say.

The trouble is that it takes like 20 hrs of study just to comprehend the signifigance of Spiral Dynamics. The book doesn't do it justice. So he might read it but get little change in his worldview out of it.

Reading the original spiral dynamics book is an utter necessity. it frames everything in an academic context as it should be understood.

@Judy2 It can help but I think it may be better for you to not get TOO strongly into any external source of the spiral because it might restrict you in the process and give you limiting beliefs on what every stage 'must' have in it.

Every description you hear is still a language and the source's way to explain an implicit experience you will have to find seperately for yourself and you may find different in some sense. Take the book as only an inspiration to understand loosely the general path and thats it.

🏔 Spiral dynamics can be limited, or it can be unlimited if one's development is constantly reflected in its interpretation.

Leo's series of the spiral didn't help you to locate yourself in one or two main stages? By the way, for inspiration and introduction (before the self investigation of each stage everyone must do in his unique way) I think Leo's series is the best.

@Nivsch i have difficulty getting clear on the exact percentages, and i tend to get distracted by surface level stuff or the occasional shadow coming up.
