What if the Holy Spirit is guiding you to success though (by making for example certain goals more salient and more desiring for you)?

The response you gave only make sense when you talk about ultimate guiding principles, because under your Christian view - you should let the Holy Spirit to be the ultimate guide / organizing principle for you, but there is no contradiciton with it guiding you to success.

Success deserves a reframe. Who wants to succeed in a video game and have themselves immortalized by that? Success is to exit the game, rewrite the rules rework the terrain rejig the limits and then return to the game to chill in boss mode knowing the game is a game. Equivalently, success is, Holy Spirit give me what you have for me not what I want for me. My choices have brought nothing but disaster and drama. Success is fulfilling your purpose for why you came here, namely to overcome the barriers to becoming what you really are. The game is the barrier. It can't touch a hair on your head though you are living as though it can. Get right out so you can go back in.
